answered my own question;-----------

"Above anything, Juan Marichal gave pride to his country," Fernandez said. "It is because of Juan Marichal that I can see today Barry Bonds holding a Dominican Republic flag in his hand."

The Giants paid tribute to their long Hispanic heritage by wearing "Gigantes" uniforms instead of their regular home jerseys, the first time in the club's 123-year history it has worn such threads. The uniforms were to be auctioned off afterward.

Many of Marichal's former teammates were in attendance, including Mays, McCovey, Felipe Alou, Orlando Cepeda and Gaylord Perry. Some had tiny Dominican flags in their front pockets.

the funny thing is, I probably knew about this before anybody here. However since I was there I had no internet access therefore I couldn't break the news.

anyways, I got a pic of the jerseys on sale at the dugout store. I wasnt able to get any good images of them in action though

I like the concept, especially for celebrating latino players of the past. Now when will we see a Padres jersey that says "Fathers" across the front in honor of all the great midwestern anglo kids who played for them. (That would be a riot!!)

And, of course, a Dodgers jersey that says "Dahgiz" for all the native NYers who played back in Brooklyn. Come to think of it, I would love to get an Islanders jersey that said "Islindiz". I don't think I would ever take it off.

During the pregame ceremony, a Johnny Roseboro pinata was lowered onto the field, which was smashed into smithereens by a bat-wielding Mr. Marichal. The crowd cheered wildly.

I only wish that was true :D
