Buffalo Bills concept

I've seen some Bills concepts here recently, so I thought I'd take a stab at it. I wanted to see if I could stick to the current color scheme (while re-emphasising the royal blue), but update the striping patterns.

I kinda like the stripes the Bills use on their pants currently, but I don't like how the stripe changes to a solid color once it hits the jersey. And I HATE the shoulder yokes.

So here's my idea:

The thin dark blue line above the nameplate would go down and connect to ("start") the rear dark blue line on the side striping.

C+C and spirited debate on the helmets (grey facemasks!) welcome.

I like em. Anything is better than the disasters they have now, but im in love with that new third alt throwback they just put out

Good idea, but here is out you could improve this into a great concept IMO:

1. Make the numbers realistic, those suckers are huge, especially in width.

2. Remove the side panel on the jerseys, it has no place on this jersey.

3. This is just a taste thing, but I would make the silver navy, so theres not another blue red silver team in the AFC east.

4. Put your stripe design on the pants.

You went out of your way to match the side panels of the jerseys to the pants stripes, but then there's no pants stripes?

I tried that originally, but I thought it looked way too cluttered. Maybe I'll try it again.

Really great start on this design which, for my money, is a major improvement on what they've got now. Simple and clean lines, very strong, powerful look without resorting to black in any way - a big plus! You've made the Bills look like an NFL team again! :D

I agree with the earlier poster's suggestions:

- Possibly thinner numbers?

- What if you remove the side panels and put the striping onto the pants?

I'm up in the air about the silver. While you've used it subtely, I wonder if it's not too subtle?

Finally, I'd love to see this concept with the white helmets (same logo).

Great work, thanks for sharing and looking forward to the next version.

Here's a quick update with some of the suggestions added. Made the numbers smaller and more simple. Added the pants stripe (still not sure about it). Also included the white helmet, as per rbripley's idea. I think I kinda like the white helmet.

Your first set was a step in the right direction from the slop they wear now. The revision I think was a step back, though. While you simplified the numbers and shrunk them down, adding the stripes back on the pants and jersey sides does clutter them a little too much. I was hoping you'd go the other way and remove the stripes from the sides of the jerseys as well - you have stripes where they ought to be on a football jersey - up at the shoulders or arms. I've never been a fan of NFL teams trying to emulate the NBA with stripes on the sides of the torso.

And while you solved one of the Bills' biggest problems - the hideous shoulder yoke - you could have done more to eliminate the other major gaffe the Bills made: two shades of blue that are just different enough to not be identical but not so different that it looks appropriate. Royal and navy blue, used together in this fashion, look like someone wasn't careful when they chose their materials for making the uniform. Either color by itself would look great, but together they are jarring.

Are the facemasks a dull flat gray or metallic to match the nickel the Bills reintroduced to their scheme?

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

Nice job. The shoulder stripes on the jerseys are similar to what they wore in '62 and '63 when they changed from blue and silver to blue, white and red.

I think the numbers are just too thick and have too many colors. Just stick with two.

Use the "grazing" buffalo with the white helmet. :D

Ok, I'm gonna tweak these a bit and add a red alternate. First, two questions:

1) Which is better? White helmet or Red helmet?

2) Should I just try to eliminate the dark blue entirely and stick with Royal Blue, Red, and Gray?

1. I like the white helmet, except that 2 other teams in the division wear one, and the 4th team wears a light silver. Red might stand out a little more, but I like the idea of nickel facemasks.

2. I like the navy blue better, but then the Bills' colors would be really really close to the Patriots, with just a slight difference between nickel and silver. You're probably better off with the royal blue, even though the navy looks sweet.
