Man, that site is unbelievable! It's even got tiny obscure D3 and NAIA schools. I played one year of college ball at a D3 school and it warmed my heart to see my helmet up there!

Besides...as you have said before...don't mess with tradition!

Don't mess with tradition?? In every picture you just showed, they've got on a different uniform set. Orange jerseys one year, blue pants the next. Come on man!

Thats because the Gay tors cant get their plop togather like better teams do.

Indiana University is the only state school (except SUNYs and Rutgers) that puts the state name ahead of the "University" in its official name

What about Ohio University?

West Virginia University also.

And winghaz, you probably think Ohio University should use the BOBCAT logo, since they do not have a wildcat logo.

Jigga, thanks for clarifying my partial misstatement. Schools like Penn State, Ohio State and so on were not included in my statement. I did overlook Ohio U. and WVU, which should have been on that list.

And I've been waiting for Nike to come to Jersey and build us UNJ. That basketball team would've been sweet if we kept our homegrown talent at home all these years - Troy Murphy, Tim Thomas, Jason Williams, Andrew Bynum... GO UNJ FIGHTIN' SWOOSHES! B)

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

And now, my picks for the best helmets by conference:

ACC: Florida State

Big East: West Virginia

Big Ten: Iowa

Big 12: Texas without the numbers. If Texas keeps the numbers, then Texas A&M

CUSA: Southern Methodist

Mid-American: Akron

Mountain West: Air Force

Pac 10: Arizona State

SEC: Arkansas

Sun Belt: Troy

WAC: Louisiana Tech

Independents: Temple

Now that's more like it. :P I think that Mid Tenn and FAU would be second and third, respectively.

Independents: none

Sorry to stray too far from the topic...

Dahntay Jones went to Rutgers for a little while anyway :) I know how you feel though, Virginia has had, Allen Iverson, Zo Mourning, JJ Redick, and if you count Oak Hill Academy post-grads, Jerry Stackhouse, Josh Smith, Carmelo Anthony, and countless other stars...lol.

I will add this note: There are some helmets in various conferences that weren't picked as No. 1, but definitely are sharp helmets.

Michigan, of course, is a classic.

The Mountain West has a bunch of good ones. Utah and Wyoming are great helmets. And it's good to see BYU go back to its classics.

The Pac 10 has some good ones -- UCLA and Washington State are just two examples.

And the WAC has some real beauties. San Jose State, Fresno State and Hawaii are all great helmets. And I do like the Nevada helmet, even though I suggested they change.

Actually, it was because Spurrier couldn't get his mind set. He went through four different uniform manufacturers while at Florida: Champion his first two years, Starter for about five years, Reebok for two years, and then Nike for the rest of his tenure.

I don't think so, if you have to add something to the helmet to make it better, then it's obviously not as good as you think.

That wasn't spurrier it was the athletic dept. The entire school was Reebok including the basketball team, and then they all switched to Nike. Now everything on campus is Nike. It's just a money issue, but when Florida changed from Reebok to Nike they left the uniform style alone. The change was made between Starter and Reebok. Incidentally the SEC jersey logo changed at that point too and went from a round SEC in a circle to the NCAA logo with SEC inside on the collar of the jersey.

It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle. When the sun comes up, you'd better be running." - Unknown | 🌐 Check out my articles on jerseys at Bacon Sports 🔗

Pac 10 keepers

Actually, all of them. They're all pretty decent.

I somewhat disagree i keep all of them with exception of Arizona, obviously if i was Mike Stoops i would bring back the white helmets because im not feeling the love w/ the navy helmets.

He's right except for these...

Ohio State

Florida State

Penn state

Colorado State

Oklahoma State

Utah State

New Mexico State

Arizona State

North Carolina State

Michigan State

Indiana State

Delaware State

Oregon State

Washington State

Mississippi State...you get the point.

I think what he meant to say is that they are one of the few state schools that refer to themselves as simply Indiana University. And yes Ohio University is another. I would guess that the reason for that is that they can't have two Indiana or Ohio States.
