Cujo
How can you be the best team of our era when in the last ten years, you do not have the longest winning streak, nor as many NCAA championships, as another team? Last I checked, a certain school in Ohio might have a better argument. Ohio State?? Are you kidding?! They've won ONE National Championship in this era and played in only ONE title game. OSU would have no titles in this era if not for a bad call that cost Miami the game. If any team actually has a case against USC for best team of this era, it would be the Canes. Did I say Ohio State? They have just as many NCAA championships as USC does in football in this era, and in any case, they don't have as long of a winning streak as USC does. However, USC hasn't won 50 in a row yet, either, which a certain school in Ohio has. WSU151
I was a lil unsure about Texas after their game agains the Aggies, but after taking Colorado behind the woodshed today, the Horns actually seem like a serious threat to the title. I mean serious, like they could come into the Rose Bowl as possible favorites. It's gonna be close. I can't wait! They didn't just take them to the woodshed, they took them there, dragged em out, pulled out the switch, put it to their behinds again, then pulled out the extension cord, put it to their behinds AGAIN, then lastly, pulled out the belt and gave it to em that way.Texas Vs. USC=Game of the Century. Funny, a bad Nebraska did the exact same thing last week against CU. Not saying that Texas is overrated, but let's not get too excited about a win over Colorado. Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

First off, you're crazy of you're NOT talking about Ohio State. To my next point, Ohio State, in my lifetime, "our era", has won one National Championship (2002). The USC Trojans in this era have won two (2003, 2004) possibly going on three.

Cujo
I wonder where Leinart's gonna end up next year. I sure as hell hope not with Houston. It's looking like he might become a New York Jet. Of the four teams with two wins or less (Houston, New York, San Francisco and Green Bay), the Jets are the only team who really could use a QB with Pennington being "damaged goods" now, and the fact that the Texans, 49ers, and Packers have all taken QBs in the first round over the past three years. Watch out for the Saints though. I got a feeling they might creep up and finish below the Jets and I've been hearing they could be giving up on Brooks very soon. WJMorris3
Check your numbers, Curty... according to the NCAA, the Trojans have won zero NCAA championships. They can't be considered as dominant as teams that have actually won NCAA championships.

jrh31584
I don't believe the NCAA recognizes national champions of Division I-A football. The school in Ohio that willmorris is talking about is Mount Union, who has won 7 Division III national championships since 1993. Cujo
I'm 100% sure the NCAA backs Division I-A football and if you think Mount Union or whatever other scrub Div. 3 school could compete with USC, you're outta your fluffing mind. Have you ever accually watched Division III football? Its like AA baseball compared to the pros. The guys who play football at a Div. III school are the guys who couldnt make a Div. I or Div. II school. Match up any Div. III School with almost any Div. I school, let alone USC and youll see who the real champion is. And another thing, Willmorris, where do you get that the NCAA doesnt recognize Div. I football? Thats like saying that the NFL doesnt recognize the Denver Broncos, therefore they have no Super Bowl wins. WSU151
willmorris, please stop debating this issue. You are really embarrassing yourself. USC would crush any D-III school in Ohio. USC has won back-to-back championships. Please quit while you are way behind. Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half. WJMorris3
Okay, let's clarify one thing. Division I-A football is the only sport for which the NCAA does not recognize any champions. While I will relinquish the argument and accept that USC might be the best team of our era... they are NOT the most dominant. There's where you argue for Mount Union, who at one point could blow out any team in the nation at their level. (And to think that they do it without scholarships!) Division I-A football is not the be all and end all of NCAA football. It might be the highest level, but it's not all of it, by a longshot. WJMorris3
The NCAA recognizes champions at the Division IAA, Division II, and Division III level.Remember, the champions are crowned by the Associated Press, or by USA Today and the coaches, not by the NCAA. Let's face it, the BCS is flawed and subjective. For the NCAA to recognize a champion for Division IA, there would need to be a playoff.
