All Time Favorites That I Didn't See Live (which is most of them):

-Earl Campbell running all over the Dolphins

-The Colts comeback on the Buccaneers

-The guy that made the jumping catch from the stands for the field goal

-The Antonio Freeman catch

-Ravens-Titans game where the Titans winning TD was called back because the Ravens were offside

All Time Favorites That I Did See:

-Jerry Rice breaks the TD record

-Brett Favre lighting up the Raiders

-Rams-Eagles game last year where the tackle doesn't even get out of the stance and Jeff Blake got drilled

-Rams-Browns when Aeneas Williams came unguarded on a blitz and nailed Kelly Holcomb

-[homer] Colts v. Patriots this year and Colts v. Steelers this year[/homer]

Another Monday Night moment I will never forget was the last time we all saw (my childhood hero) Joe Montana play in a 49ers uniform during the last game of the '92 season against the Lions and who's number was also retired by the 49ers on a Monday night.

Steve Young's last game ever fell on a Monday Night as well when he was KO'd by then Arizona Cardinal, Aeneas Williams.

The night Earl Campbell rushed for about 200 yds and practically beat the Dolphins single handedly

The night that the Colts Joe Washington scored 3 TD's on the Pats on a pass, run, and either punt return or kickoff return.

The night the Oilers fan, in the middle of a terrible season, flipped off the cameraman on MNF.

The game saving tackle Kenny Houston put on Walt Garrison on the 1 yard line as time ran out pushing the Redskins past the Cowboys.

The 38-0 pasting the Cardinals put on Dallas in 1970 or 1971 (I think) when Don Meredith said there was no way he would un-retire to QB the Cowboys again.

My favorite MNF games (two I was'nt born at the time, but saw it on the Howard Cosell biography

1- The Redskins game where he called Alvin Garett "A Little Monkey".

2- Dolphins/Patriots (The night Cosell announced John Lennon's death)

and of course, the Jets/Dolphins thriller from 2000.

Great action, RIP Monday Night Football on ABC, real great to see Dandy Don and The Giffer on last night and we know that Howard Cosell was in the heavens giving them a mouthful.

P.S., maybe it will boost the ratings of WWE Raw on Mondays.

I just enjoyed being able to see all 32 NFL franchises play under the bright lights on Monday Night Football.

Except for the Texans, unfortunately. But yeah, I am betting that in a few years MNF will be just an afterthought, though. After all, it's on cable, and there won't be any "flexible scheduling" to get a good game on.

I've been watching MNF since it's inception. I was 9 years old when my Browns beat the Jets in the first ever MNF game. I have quite a few favorite moments. Forgive me if I miss on the year on some of them.

In no particular order...

1979: Browns vs. Cowboys. Brian Sipe leads the Browns to a 26-7 blow-out win over the mighty Cowboys.

1983: Possibly the worst MNF game ever. Cardinals vs. Giants. Dandy Don Meredith delivers a line that I still remember to this day. "Maybe justice will prevail and neither of these teams will win." Justice did prevail and they tied 20-20 after Cards kicker Neil O'Donahue (I think that was his name) missed a quite few chances to win it. Horrific game but the guys in the booth made it watchable.

1994: Joe Montana hits (insert his name here) to beat Denver. Marty finally beats the Broncos in Denver.

1985: Bears vs. Dolphins.

The Earl Campbell game.

1985: Bears vs. Packers. The Fridge scores and becomes an overnight sensation.

Brett Favre goes for 399 after his dad died.

Antonio Freeman's catch.

The fan jumping from the stands to into the tunnel to catch the PAT. Still the greatest catch in MNF history.

Tony Dorsett's 99 yard run vs. the Vikings. "That's 99 yards and a half!" Dandy Don.

Joe Montana's last time in a 49ers uniform on MNF.

1999: Preseason. Browns vs. Cowboys. I was at the game in Canton when the Browns returned or whatever you want to call it. I doubt there was ever more excitement at a preseason game. It was great to see my team back in existence.

Anytime Dandy Don sang "Turn out the lights."

I could go on and on....

I think a lot of you may be too young to remember what a true "event" MNF used to be. It was the original "must see" TV show. I wish ESPN classic or NFL Network would run the original MNF games. Great stuff. :D

My favorite memories from MNF....

-The "Monday Night Miracle" comeback by the Jets against the hated Dolphins.

-Favre going for 399 after losing his dad

-The guy at Solider Field jumping out of the stands to catch that PAT, actually getting the ball AND not killing himself in the process

-Antonio Freeman's "He did WHAT?" catch

-TO and the Sharpie

-Bo Jackson making Brian Bosworth a part of the turf at the Kingdome

-Joe Montana engineering yet another comeback, this time with KC and finally getting Marty a win at Mile High

-Jerry Rice breaking the TD record

-Tony Dorsett's "99 and a half" run vs. the Vikes

-Earl Campbell singlehandedly destroying the Dolphins D

-The Dolphins denying the 85 Bears a chance at an undefeated season

-Peyton Manning engineering a comeback for the ages against the Bucs...was also the first time I ever really saw the Jon Gruden Face (if ya read Bill Simmons' columns on ESPN.com, you'll understand  )

-Dandy Don, Giff, and How-ard Co-sell...

My personal MNF favorites:

New England/Green Bay in 1979: That was the first time MNF came to Green Bay (not counting previous visits to Milwaukee), and the home fans were rewarded with a Packer victory.

Dallas/Minnesota in January 1983: The Tony Dorsett TD run of "99 yards and a half."

Washington/Green Bay in 1983: I believe this was the 2nd MNF visit to Green Bay, and this was that wild 48-47 Packer victory over the defending champs. A high school classmate of mine actually attended that game and couldn't stop commenting the next day about how the crowd really got into the game.

Green Bay/Denver in 1984: The game was played in the middle of a snowstorm, and the Broncos scored two quick TD's on Packer kickoff fumbles.

Miami/NY Jets in 1985: Joe Namath and Weeb Eubank were honored at halftime.

Green Bay/Chicago in 1985: The night William Perry was inserted into the Bears' backfield and into the American sports consciousness.

NY Giants/Washington in 1985: I still cringe over the sight of that Joe Theisman injury.

Chicago/Miami in 1985: The Dolphins handing the Bears their only loss that season.

LA Raiders/Seattle in 1987: The Bo Jackson debut. I wouldn't have been suprised if he did run all the way to Tacoma.

Denver/Indianapolis in 1988: Someone on this thread brought up all those masks on this Halloween game. I heard them mention on the broadcast that this was part of a promotion by Indy's bid committee for the 1992 Super Bowl (which was awarded to Minneapolis the following spring).

LA Rams/Buffalo in 1989: The Bills' comeback engineered by Frank Reich. (Al Michaels wasn't at this game, for he was in the Bay Area on ABC's World Series coverage. The night after this game, the earthquake struck the Bay Area.)

NY Giants/San Francisco in 1990: A 7-3 snoozer of a game, but I remember it for that live shot of a jetplane flying across a full moon.

Detroit/San Francisco in 1992: Joe Montana coming in during the 2nd half in his last regular season game with the Niners.

Kansas City/Denver in 1994: Montana leading that exciting Chiefs' comeback.

Denver/San Francisco in 1997: Montana's #16 was retired at halftime.

Denver/Green Bay in 1999: Aside from Super Bowls and Hall of Fame Games, I don't believe ABC did a lot of neutral site games. This MNF game was a pre-season visit to Madison.

Minnesota/Green Bay in 2000: I still shake my head in amazement over that Antonio Freeman catch in OT.

New England/NY Jets in 2005: The last MNF broadcast on ABC. I thought the broadcast was a well-done mix of part regular game broadcast, part retrospective. Hank Williams Jr singing "Turn Out the Lights" in the closing montage was actually quite touching.

NY Jets- 0 7 0 30 3 - 40

I just wanted to quote Curty's post so the Dolphins fans can catch another glimpse of the box score.

I almost forgot to highlight the Jets' amazing 4th quarter.

Miami - 17 6 7 7 0 - 37

NY Jets- 0 7 0 30 3 - 40
