Things got pretty heated last week when the lab that examined the evenidence said that they found several DNA samples from several men, but none matched any of the lax players. They never released that info to the defense. This has to be the easiest win for a defense attorney that I've ever seen... yet the case still goes on. Both the stripper/possible rape victim and the Duke lacrosse team did stupid stuff both on the night in question and in the months following. I just feel bad for everyone involved that got hurt. The only people who have any kind of money, power or influence are those who are somehow connected to Duke... it's not impossible. And considering the history of explotiation of Black women in this country, it's definetly not impossible. It just seems a little convenient to me how this girl volunteered information that discredited her as much as possible. The alleged rapes happened 9 months ago, so that means 2 months after this life-stopping, traumatic event, she had no qualms about going out and getting herself knocked up.Nifong has carefully selected the notes of one police sergeant over all other officers dealing with this case. That sergeant, Mark Gottlieb, claims to have taken no notes at the time of the incident, instead compiling 33 pages of notes, completely from memory, 4 months later. Magically, Gottlieb's notes match up perfectly with what Nifong wants to have, and also run completely counter to hospital records, and the notes of every officer who actually took notes back in March. Gottlieb has also earned a rep as a noted Duke-hater, a cop who jails Duke students at any given opportunity for petty offenses, often making them share cells with violent criminals.
