NHL 2006-2007 Rumors

As I've said elsewhere, the same people who complain that the ball-in-glove could be used by the Mobile Bayshores probably think the old rink logo is great, even though that's incredibly generic.

The Canucks have never been able to make any look work. At worst they've been hideous, at best they've been plain. The rink and stick forming a VC is a reach: the C is a hairline away from being an O, the V too obtuse to make a good V.

The spaghetti skate was the best look they had, but even that was just okay. Maybe one day, they'll get it together, but they've just looked mediocre at every stage of the game so far.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Of course, I'd like to note that the only people speaking on the thread in favour of the Canucks' logo are Canucks supporters. Rose...er Blue-green coloured glasses perhaps?

Well, I've spoken well of the stick/rink/c logo in other threads, and I am most certainly not a Canucks fan.

I like that logo--but I'm not going to get into a big argument--it's one of those things that you either like or you don't--and I do.

As for the death of the black flaming snot horse jerseys for the Flames--it can't come too soon.

Comic Sans walks into a bar, and the bartender says, "Sorry, we don't serve your type here."

hopefully the oilers wont discontinue the current third jersey, because its the most popular/best selling third the nhl has had

Seriously?! That's surprising IMO. I presonally can't stand it but I guess I'm in the minority.

Yeah i think that Oilers alt is the ugliest jersey in the league.

it seems to be a hit or miss with people, but a lot more hits than misses. from everything i've heard, it really was the best selling one the nhl has ever had.

Yeah I think its terrible too. I love their home jerseys. orange and navy work so well togather. The alt looks so dull to me.

big canucks fan <-------

completely agree that the Canucks have never nailed a decent logo -at least as a pro franchise. The stick is pretty much a glorified shoulder logo and overly simplistic.

I do however, believe that some people need to understand the fanbase before deciding what's best for our team, the Vancouver Canucks. If you were part of a professional design or marketing team understanding the market and applying that knowledge would of course be paramount.

The Whale is absolutely loathed by many many Canuck fans. The ardent fan has never seen it as legitimate and will never settle for that :cursing: corporate reminder that the fans don't have any ownership of the team. Personally I see the situation as an embaressment. To me there's no difference between having a whale on our sweater or Disney TM owning an NHL team and naming it the "Mighty Ducks Of Anaheim"

You may think the Whale is the best thing since sliced bread, but what you think really doesn't matter in this case. It's not about your taste or asthetics. It's about what the fans want. In Vancouver the rink/stick jersey outsells the whale jersey by a wide margin. Thats a pretty good indicator for the marketing people.

Let's all keep in mind that the Oilers have not used Orange since the 1995-1996 season.

It's Metallic Copper.

Thrashers - ditching the original dark blue w/ alternate logo sweater; will only wear the ATLANTA-sleeved sweater at home next season

I can with 90% certainty that this is not true.

And I can say with 100% certainty that this IS true.

I got the impression from my friend who works on the equipment staff that things were staying with the normal plans. not to discredit you Pantone Ibut I do realize Front office and the equipment staff don't always talk to each other

oh dear lord, why? i'm not the biggest fan of the blue thrasher-T uniforms, but one arm atlanta uniform is worse.

Is the one arm atlanta jersey that popular among thrasher fans, that they want it as their primary home jersey?

Yes it is. You normally see more of the one-arm jersey than anything down here.

I got my information via blackjack76 (you can take what he says to the bank), and from official 2006-2007 NHL graphics.

However, I'll still reduce my certainty to 95% or so, since nothing in life is 100%...

Huh. I would have thought it'd be too hot to wear hockey sweaters in Atlanta.

OFFICIAL? You know what the new Sabres will look like?

Man, those are secrets I wouldn't be able to keep!

Not right now, hell no. It does get kinda cold here during the fall/winter. Atlanta has some crazy weather.

LOVE Washington in Red, White and Blue! How is any other color combination acceptable? I never understood this.

This is the same Washington DC in which there was a team called the Federals which were green, silver, and white. That was because of the owner's damn yacht.

No excuse for the Federals colors (unless they were referring to the Federal Reserve), but the Capitals colors are perfectly reasonable. The federal government uses blue and various shades of gold a lot as identity colors. Look at these samplings of federal seals:

Blue and gold are just sort of the federal colors, probably thanks to Baron von Steuben outfitting the Continental Army in blue and buff uniforms at Valley Forge. The Capitals use too much black, but black is a reasonable accent color if you're using blue and gold as your primaries, and blue and gold make a lot of sense for a team called the Washington Capitals.

I hate those Thrashers 3rd unis. First off there is not inough powder blue in the Thrashers logo to have it as a primary color for a jersey. The light powder blue is a highlight color. The only reason why it is there is to create a 3d effect. It shouldn't be a main color of a jersey.

And then there is the one arm thing which has been touched on.

Edmonton: Using blue vintage as an alternate after Dec. 1/06. Not sure if current alternate is being discontinued.

If they are doing this then they need to do it correctly with colour correct '80's pant shells (royal blue with widening orange stripe trimmed with white), royal blue gloves and helmets. What they did for the Heritage Classic where they had the vintage jerseys with navy hockey pants and navy gloves looked horrible.

If true, I like the fact that Edmonton will use a retro jersey as alternate in the future. By the way, if they were sticking with the current alt and they win the Cup this year, wouldn't they have to add another 'rivet' to the design? As far as I know, there are 5 rivets on their current alt logo to represent the 5 Cups they've won.

The Thrashers' powder blue jersey doen't look bad in person, if you discount the awful number and name font. IMHO, they should change that font on all their unis. The name lettering is too huge on the back, and some of the numbers (particularly the '3') look awkward.

Yep. That's why I think those sorts of details are really silly.

At least the Islanders can add another stripe on the shoulder, if they win another Cup.
