FiddySicks
The Blue Jays are apparently very interested in Julio Lugo and have been in talks with the Rays for over a week. I heard the same thing on TSN this morning. Getting Lugo would be nice, but I'd rather get a pitcher be it a starter or a reliever. Would we need starting pitching with this lineup?LF Reed Johnson (.357 AVG / 6 HR / 30 RBI)DH Frank Catalanotto (.321 AVG / 6 HR / 45 RBI)CF Vernon Wells (.322 AVG / 26 HR / 78 RBI)3B Troy Glaus (.247 AVG / 26 HR / 71 RBI)1B Lyle Overbay (.308 AVG / 16 HR / 58 RBI)RF Alex Rios (.330 AVG / 15 HR / 53 RBI)SS Julio Lugo (.310 AVG / 12 HR / 27 RBI)C Bengie Molina (.277 AVG / 8 HR / 26 RBI) or Gregg Zaun (.291 AVG / 7 HR / 24 RBI)2B Aaron Hill (.303 AVG / 2 HR / 29 RBI).300+ hitters at 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 9 with 10+ hr from 5 (plus Hinske on the bench)Combine that with a 1-2-3 of Halladay-Burnett-Lilly and Ryan in to close... Yeah, I like that idea BTW does anyone now when Chahin should be back. Because if he comes back soon there is no reason to add another starting pitcher. The things I would like the Jays to add are another reliver and another big bat guy. IMO we should try and trade Hinskie Chacin (not Chahin) is due back in early August. We already added a reliever. We don't really need a big bat guy... the Jays lead the majors in batting average, are third in home runs, and 5th in runs scored. They have tried to trade Hinske (not Hinskie) many many times but no team wants to pick up his contract... since he's been hot lately I'm happy to have him around on the team. The Jays need a shortstop... Russ Adams was terrible offensively and defensively, and John McDonald just isn't cutting it with his .200 average... that is why I want Lugo here.Another starting pitcher would be nice but there's nothing decent available (example... the Yankees added Sidney Ponson) Yeah but that doesnt look too promising. ESPN just said that Tampa's asking price for Lugo will probably be too hogh for anyone to bite on. Tazz013
The Brewers traded pitcher Jorge de la Rosa to the Kansas City Royals for infielder Tony Graffanino. No big name players, but it likely eliminates the possibility of Lugo going to the Brewers. If noone is biting at the Rays asking price, they will lower it the closer they get to the deadline... Lugo is a free agent at the end of the season, you would think they'd want something for him rather than nothing. --- Chris Creamer Founder/Editor, SportsLogos.Net "The Mothership" • News • Facebook • X/Twitter • Instagram

Keep in mind Chris that it was already 8-3 in the top of the 9th when he hit his grand slam. Good to see that he has the power to hit one out now and then, but still it's not good enough for a team who wants to be in the playoffs.McDonald is a solid defensive backup, but nothing more. floydnimrod
The Reds have not played Edwin Encarnacion in a while, and Rich Aurilia has been playing third for about a week. It appears the Reds are showing off Aurilia as trade bait. I wouldn't suprised if he gets dealt.Or Jerry Narron is resting EE because of his ankle injury.Or Jerry Narron has completely lost his mind Mancakes: The Bandhttps://twitter.com/FloydNimrod

rmackman
Carlos Lee, minor-league outfielder Nelson Cruz, and a player to be named later to Texas for relief pitcher Francisco Cordero and outfielders Kevin Mench and Laynce Nix. I guess considering Milwaukee was in a HAVE TO TRADE LEE mode this really wasn't a bad deal. I'm not sure why they had to include a player to be named later. With any luck this will work out the same way the Richie Sexson deal did. I'm still sad to see Carlos go. Goodbye-o El Caballo. "Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. And if they resign him for 4 years $60 million like he wants, they'll still overpay for him.Brewers GM Doug Melvin says that they aren't done making moves, expecting a trade to be finalized tonight or tomorrow that would bring a "veteran starting pitcher" to Milwaukee.
