New Vikings Uniform debut

After watching these new unis in action, I don't like them. The white side panel is too wide and they just look goofy all around. Nice to see the Vikes hold up the tradition of suckage w/ their jerseys now too......

When I first tuned it they were showing a sideline point-of-view and I thought both teams were wearing white.

I'd have to add Aaron Brooks to that list of worse things - I still can't believe Oakland passed on a quarterback (Leinart/Cutler) in the draft.

I don't mind piping, but I don't like it if it's not continuous on both jersey and pants.

They aren't totally offensive to my eyes but I noticed the yellow collars and that just doesn't jibe for me. Personally I think they should be white but then there'd be too much white on the uniform.

Oh well. At least it's better then the last couple or so new uniforms in the NFL.

The jerseys would look a million times better if the stripe was gold instead of white. It looks too plain.

I like the jerseys a lot. I don't know why; as was mentioned before (albeit in a totally unrelated way), they just have "it."

Oddly enough, though, they seem to sort of match the new referees' uniforms. They're both unnecessarily round and futuristic looking, but unlike Minnesota's uniforms, I can't stand the new referees' gear.

Two problems I have with this uniform:

1. The gold piping connecting at the back, by the shoulders. If the sleeve piping did not connect to the side piping, both would look better.

2. Wasn't the sleeve striping supposed to curve more, emulating the Viking horns on the helmet? In its current state, it just looks crooked.

I think they look better on players and in action than they did when the package was first unveiled.

I dunno, I kinda like them.

And I think the Vikings came up with a creative way to make the side panel and the pants line up. The upper part of the pants stripe is white, then it switches to purple. Looks alright.

It also makes it so all the combinations will work okay as the side striping will have a purple/white/purple panel affect that looks (and is) intentional.

Good design work there.

first of all, as a saints fan i'm so glad to be rid of aaron brooks. secondly, those uniforms just don't work! There are times when it is apparent that teams change just to say they are changing, and usually the results are bad. i think this is what has occured in minnesota. it just seems way too busy to me!

On the plus side...

I like the new shoulder stripes and black shoes. The gold collars aren't a bad touch. Not great but not awful.

On the minus side...

I don't like the white side panels on the jerseys and the way they "meet" with the shoulder stripes. It just looks thrown in. I hate the stripe on the pants. It looks ridiculous.

Overall...

Not as bad as they could have been but they're still pretty "Arena League" (re: Bad.) I guess it all depends on what we're comparing them to. Compared to Atlanta, Cincinnati or Arizona they don't look so bad. Compared to The Raiders, Giants, Chiefs, Steelers, Browns, etc. the new Vikings unis look pretty silly. I give them a D.

I'm the exact opposite ... with a catch. I love the jerseys in action. I think they look sharp, especially the yellow collars. It adds color to what was an overly purple jersey.

That said, I thought the transition from the white side panel into the pants looked atrocious.

Still, it's leagues better than an all-purple monstrosity. Here's to hoping that never happens. Ever.

I can't make up my mind on the Vikings new unis. Did anyone else notice the slight tweak in the horn design for them as well. They added a little shading or something to give them I guess depth.

I think we're all forgetting the most important thing when it comes to the new unis: The helmets actually match the jerseys! For the longest time it used to bug me how they didn't match. It just looked bad. Now at least they've gotten that part taken care of.

Im mixed on their new uniforms. Overall they get a okay... not great, maybe could of been better.

And they uniforms match the helmets? how? The horn is the same is their norse guy? Or what? I think the purples the same color as it used to be. And you will almost never match a metallic shell to a textile, which is fine.
