As of today October 14, 2006 I am no longer a fan of the Miami Hurricanes.

I dont know what sickened me most other the fight that Miami announcer enjoying it and encourging it or the Hurricanes jumping up and down like they won the game after the fight. Larry Coker should be fired NOW not at the end of the season NOW. The fact they jumped up and odwn like taht shows me they dont care that they disgraced college football they are a bunch of thugs and I personally think the NCAA should ban them from a Bowl this year.

Well its njot just THIS brawl its the SUgar Bowl Fight, the players being arrested left and right, and then after the fight the way they were jumping up and down its wrong they represent whats wrong with the NCAA.

Really? Ban them from a bowl? Let's not blow this thing out of proportion. This is a fight that apparently was instigated by a few FIU players who took offense after a UM player celebrated a touchdown by taking a bow and pointing at the opposing bench. Next thing you know, kickers are being tackled, players are swinging helmets. I've read a few reports on the fight and all of them seem to be pointing the finger at FIU for letting things escalate to a physical level.

Remember that these are just kids. Some don't know quite to handle themselves in this type of situation and those were the ones booted from the game. Others let it fire them up for the way they play on the field. What's the big deal? Fights happen in football all the time. It's the nature of the beast. Though I have to say that I wouldn't be surprised if FIU players huddled up before the game and decided to orchestrate this fight so that they could get a little more attention nationally and locally seeing how they are bastardized down here because UM is the powerhouse and FIU is full of UM rejects.

Well, you can't argue that when they've had more players selected in the first few rounds of the NFL Draft recently than any other school in history.

Okay, so in this instance FIU started it, but when you have the reputation that the Miami Hurricanes have, any sort of extracurricular involvement is going to have people say, "There go those 'Canes being a bunch of thugs again."

The Miami area is not doing so great with its football teams in 2006, I suppose.

There are some troubled kids on this team. What else can you say? Coker has been doing a good job of keeping them in line by suspending them and showing the current UM players that things aren't going to be the same as they were a decade or 2 ago when guys were just running wild.

Anyway, Tank. About the UM players gathering and jumping. What's the problem with that? It's nothing more than pride. Don't tell me that you don't expect the majority of schools to react the same way when an away team comes to their home field and starts an altercation. It's no differemt than when school "A" stomps on school "B's" logo prior to a big game. No harm done.

I agree. This incident was just unbelieveable. I sat there watching it on TV and I couldn't believe it was actually happening. I read somewhere that 1 game suspensions were expected...in my opinion, some of these guys should get multiple game suspensions and further punishment from the university. This is just disgusting.

If Marcus Vick gets kicked out of school for stomping on a player, then the actions of several of the players of the "U" should result in the same action. Vick set the precedent of a last straw action, and here you have that done, and moreso with the use of a helmet as a weapon.

Larry Coker has officially let the inmates run the asylum, and needs to be shown the door immediately.

No, the nature of the beast is, every once in a while someone gets into an argument which gets broken up immediately by coaches and referees (and other players). This was a knock-down drag-out brawl.

Personally, I say Miami on probation for 3 years. They do it again..bye bye..no more bowls for you for a while.

I mean, we say "Hell yes!" when a team gets banned from bowl games for recruitment, this is a serious fight that was escalated way out of control. Someone could've been hurt here. Unfortunately, in the NCAA it's all about the money and not about the students.

Yes, ban them from a bowl. Remember what happened when South Carolina and Clemson got into their scuffle, both teams instituted a precedent and personally took themselves out of postseason play. I forsee Miami doing the same thing, and since FIU isn't even close to bowl eligible, I forsee that they'll do something to punish themselves.
