Herk Posted January 11, 2007 Share Posted January 11, 2007 BSU hung 43 on OU.Oklahoma was supposed to run all over BSU.OSU was supposed to run all over UF.Look how those turned out.When the dust settled, BSU is the only one with the thing that matters:A '0' in the loss column.So was BYU really the best team in 1984? I am sorry, I forgot that many of those on this board were not even born in 1984, less remember that bowl season. Even with two losses, I would not want to play LSU next week in a "plus 1" game.I definatley agree that right now LSU is the hottest team in the nation. As for BSU, I would recognize them as national champions if they played a non-conference schedule on par with Fresno State, but they dont. Sacramento State isn't exactly a powerhouse program. And lets also not forget that BSU did not completely dominate all year barely escaping against San Jose State and winning a close game versus Hawai'i.Another thing to consider is that BSU's coach is content with a #5 rating saying that it is "fair". When the coach claims #5 is fair I don't know how you really can make an argument that they are #1. Maybe it's because I come from a city whose only major football team has only won two games in three years.Honestly? No one has won the national championship. Boise State had the best record. Florida won the game that pitted the two teams at the top of the Excel spreadsheet when the head geek in charge hit the "sort" button. Until they play each other, neither one of them can claim jack.College football is a farce. My opinion of it is the same that I hold for Yankees fans. Yankees fans, as individuals, are very nice people. Some of my closest friends are Yankees fans. But if you group them all together, they're utterly ridiculous and stupid... as a group. Same goes for college football. I'll watch college football games and enjoy them throughly, being totally ignorant to the fact that, in most cases, these games mean nothing towards their chances of actually playing towards a national championship. College football games are very exciting. When you group them together, you get the BCS. Then it's just ridiculous and stupid.How 'bout dem apples?
