They were legal till last season, and I think theyre even OTC. On top of that a TON of players used them till last year, and a ton are pissed they cant any more. I honestly thought the ban on amphetamines was kinda stupid from the start. Its an energy booster and a weight loss supplement, and a lot of players have said that theyll replace the suplement with Red Bull or other energy drinks. I think the ban on them is because Major League Baseball is so freaked out about the whole steriod problem that they are willing to ban anything at this point. Not that it doesnt hurt Bonds' case even more. Hes pretty stupid for not reading the labels and knowing what wasnt OK to take, and hes pretty low for trying to pin Sweeny. If they were neither illegal nor banned in baseball in the past, then you are comparing apples and oranges. Bonds apparently took them when they were included on baseball's banned substance list, which puts him in a different class than someone who took them when they weren't on that list and were not against the law.
