BadSeed84
I also noticed in the stores that the new BP hats, inside the black lines that sperate the panels, now say Offical Batting Practice Cap, last year's phillies hat had BLUE strips inside that hat that just had the phillies wordmark with a red liberty bell, which looked cool. Gmac1018
I used to really get disappointed when I could never work in a pre-07 New Era cap. I searched google for solutions and found that taking a hot shower with the cap on, and leaving it on for several hours afterwards (about 5 for me) gives it the absolute perfect fit.i know this thread is about 07 caps, but wanted to throw this in. it has worked 3 out of 3 times for me. But last weekend I was at the park all day playing softball and football in my hat, and sweating my ass off in the 85 degree weather, and that definitely did the job. aFr
I bought a Brew Crew 59Fifty two or three years ago at Miller Park (no mirrors to see how it looked) and was dismayed when I got home and realized how effing high it was...I haven't worn that hat since. Thanks to this thread, I can't wait to get home from work and do a little surgery... boardname
Well, I've completely changed my tune.. my hat is unwearable now. The top of it keeps losing it's shape and falling inward like a fisherman's floppy hat.Anyway, I saw this one online - i dig the blue on blue. But what the heck does this mean? This hat is basically a cross between the 2006 and the 2007 Batting Practice Hats from New Era. The hat has the look of the 2006 Batting Practice hat, but is made with the moisture wicking material that the 2007 hats are made of. These hat use New Era's A-Flex patented sizeing system, which gives you the comfort of a fitted hat with the versitilty of an adjustable one. I sure as hell don't want another of the new 2007 high brimmed ones. But I can't tell what kind this would actually be.
elliott
I find that the 2007 authentics are very hard to curve. I have 2 now - dbacks red and brew crew retro - and whenever I curve them, they see to always go back to a flatter curve. Anyone else have this problem? They do, however, look very good backwards, I have found. Dribbble ... Behance
oddball
I just learned this recently, if you think the hat sits up too high on your head and want more of a sleek look, turn your hat upside down and put some books on it to flatten it and it'll not be so "tall". I found this out after I couldn't find my Dodger hat due to construction on the house and then I found it and it was actually inside out and the bill was bent the opposite way you normally bend it. But I still do it. I now have to do it to my BLUE Mets cap.

Whenever I try to curve it just flattens back to the way it was before. I wish that you were able to curve them better.

Korbyn
My Blue Jays Alternate Logo hat sits a little high but it isn't that bad. I love that hat, and that T logo.It is a size 7 1/2.

VC//
The last model of hat new era had that i loved was the ones they had out in 1999-2000 when i got my Boston Red sox hat. I listened to my buddies and did the wear it in the shower (i did with hot water) and dry it out a little but not completely and wear it around till it dries while on your head getting a nice fit. That was a wicked hat, cost me around 50 bucks but it was well worth it, the outline to the B also went a little light blue so it looked pretty nice that way as well. Ever since then, i haven't been able to find good new era caps. Or any good caps for that matter. I've found that the blow dryer is the secret weapon when it comes to hats. As has been mentioned on this board, you can also use it to heat and reshape the crowns, though blow drying the crown is most effective when the hat is wool and will also shrink. SabreGuy
I like sort of an "extreme curve" on my bills, so I ended up getting one of those "perfect curve" things from Lids.In the old days, the bill would get wet when I put a wool 5950 in the washing machine (obviously) and it would curve really well when I wore it to shrink it to my head size. Then I'd put it in the "Perfect Curve" overnight to get it to dry completely in the curved shape.I haven't tried it with this year's 5950's yet, though, but since the bill hasn't changed, one would assume this method will still work. I've only bought one 2007 version 5950, and I'm still too afraid to doctor it. Since my hat buying has been severely cut back, I don't see me being able to replace it if I wreck it. So it has been sitting on top of my printer in the perfect curve (but dry, never soaked) for about a month now. We'll see if it ever holds its curve. Not sure if I'll ever do anything about the high crown, though. I may just leave it.In the meantime I've gone back to wearing my "MLB Ace" stretch fit New Era deal. Aside from the fact that I have to constantly re-bend the bill because it refuses to stay curved, it fits about as perfectly as any cap I have ever worn. My ONLY complaint about it (aside from the bill) is that it's not authentic (I always prefer to wear the authentics) and that the elasticized sweatband is USELESS as a sweatband. The bills have changed, though - the material (cardboard?) inside might not have, but the fabric covering them has.Well, right, that's what I meant. It's the material inside that is most relevant to the curvature, at least from what I've seen. Actually, you would think the shrinking wool might actually have been more of a hindrance to a tight curve, as the top would have most likely shrunk more than the bottom, if it had any effect at all.Really it's the ability of the material inside (I think it's cardboard too, but I really don't know for sure) to absorb water and then stay in the shape it's dried in that helps this. Now, if they had switched the structure of the bill to nylon or something like that... that would have been disastrous.
