Well, those sure are amazingly hideous. Its based off of the design worn by Secretariat's jockey. I say, didn't Nike realize the irony in designing a basketball template to mirror a jockey's uniform?

Engine, Engine, Number Nine, on the New York transit line,

If my train goes off the track, pick it up! Pick it up! Pick it up!

Back on the scene, crispy and clean,

You can try, but then why, 'cause you can't intervene.

We be the outcast, down for the settle. Won't play the rock, won't play the pebble.

Considering all they did was put a couple of stripes on the back, these uniforms are hardly "hideous". Basically, some of you guys simply don't like anything new.

Just because they are new doesn't automatically make them aesthetically pleasing either. These aren't. I agree with those who don't like them.

I don't know if I can bite on this one yet, Paul Lukas or not. The template is incredibly poorly done in MS Paint, as are the colors, numbering, lettering - everything. Additionally, the branding elements are in the wrong places - the swoosh should be on the shorts, and the jock tag should be on the bottom hem of the jersey.

That said, if this gets greenlit, it'll have Kentucky fans longing for the days of Converse denim. Put a sublimated checkerboard pattern in the shorts? And even worse not bothering to at least have the follow-through to also put it on the jersey? Not good at all.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

What's everyone freaking out about?

The backstripes look as goofy as the stripes the backstripes on the other System Of Dress unis. Which is to say they're not good, but not terrible.

And the shorts are almost for sure a subliminated pattern like the Gators scales, not a striping pattern.

In otherwords, it's meh. But not bad.

I think we'll be seeing a lot more schools going with System of Dress.

I have reason to believe that my Fighting Illini will be.

For a team with so much tradition, Kentucky sure has gone through a lot of uniform styles over the years.

Actually, their current set is only their 2nd design since the beginning of the 1997-98 season. At the time Tubby Smith took over in '97, they became a Nike school. They wore their first Nike set for 8 seasons. They've been in their current Nike set for the last 3 seasons. Aside from the current set's goofy shoulder stripes, they've had a pretty clean - almost traditional - look the last 11 years.

The Pitino years...well, they're a different story (i.e., denim in '95-'96, scalloped shorts in '94-'95, zubaz prints in '93-'94). They pretty much wore a different set, sometimes 2 sets, in each of his 8 seasons.

The mock-up at the top of this thread is based off a blurry cell phone pic taken by someone who supposedly works at a sporting goods store. He claims to have seen this in a Nike catalogue. Here's a link to that pic:

Tennessee is proud that Kentucky adores the trademark UT checkerboards so much that they have decided to incorporate them into their basketball uniforms. :welcome:

You are incorrect. Kentucky basketball has nothing to be envious of in regard to Tennessee basketball.

Just as a reminder:

NCAA Men's Basketball Championships

University of Kentucky - 7

University of Tennessee - 0

NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four Appearances

University of Kentucky - 13

University of Tennessee - 0

Most NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament appearances without reaching a Final Four

University of Kentucky - 0

University of Tennessee - 15 (Never been to the Final Four)

NCAA Men's Basketball Division I Tournament Appearances

University of Kentucky - 49

University of Tennessee - 15

Shall I go on????

Someone got a little defensive (and completely missed that the "envy" was both sarcastic and referring to exclusively the UT checkerboard design.
