The Yanks send Joba to the DL, as Tampa's playoff chances continue to improve.

I always hate to count 'em out but the Yankees look to be about done. 3/5 of their rotation is an absolute mess and the bullpen hasn't looked so great lately. Joba's expected to miss a large chunk of the remainder of the season with rotator cuff tendinitis. Personally, I'd shut him down for the year.

Also, Pudge left tonights game after a collision at home plate.

Meanwhile, Tampa can't lose at home, especially since the Indians suck. The final stretch where they end the season with 7 or 8 straight on the road is going to be the difference between winning the division or not.

Can we play Oakland every night?

I'm sure every team in the AL is wishing for that

Lord, what a turnaround from two months ago.

I sure wouldn't mind Oakland every week. A never ending left coast swing between Oakland and Seattle doesn't sound half bad, as much as I hate my Sox going out west.

Oh lord I'd never want the Jays playing against Seattle. They may be the worst team in baseball, but half their wins have come against the Jays

Sox claimed Brian Giles off of waivers and are working on a deal now. He's not the 30+ HR guy used to be (thanks to steroid testing, maybe?) but he hits a serviceable .295 and can get on base.

Probably an insurance policy for Papi's wrist. If I were the Sox brass I'd be taking a different and dramatically less popular approach... Barry Bonds.

In other waiver news, the Rays have claimed Chad Bradford.

I doubt we'll see Giles land in Boston. Boston is one of the teams he doesn't want to be traded to, per his contract. Also hear on WEEI, that he hates Boston for some reason. Mainly, the Sox are just blocking him from going to Tampa Bay or Anaheim.
