The black Philly Eagle uniforms I am looking at right now. I can barely tell they are black. In fact, I didn't know they were black until I saw a closeup. Too close to the green, Reebok, Eagles, you suck.

1/27/09- It was me, and I am sorry.

- Nicknames on uniforms. The first was actually the Blue Jays when they dropped the "Blue" from their uniforms. Now we have the Bolts and Sens in hockey.

The blue jays were certainly not the first team to put a nick name on the uniform, hell golden state warriors had "The City" on the front of theur jerseys at one time! and the 76ers have always had Sixers (I know its because they cant have 76ers due to it being a number, but still) also the 76ers used to wear (And well now as their third jersey) Phila.

My biggest pet peeve, as I've mentioned before, is when a football team has three different colors for their equipment. Essentially, when the helmet, jersey, and pants are all a diofferent color. IMO the pants should match the helmet, or in the very least the jersey and helmet should match. I also dislike when the uniform is a monochrome, but the helmet is a different color, but sometimes it works. Three different colors NEVER works IMO.

I disagree. Dislike the classic Bronco uniform? The classic Browns??? Nuts.

Since I only follow MLB & NFL football even semi-closely at all, I'll hit upon what annoys me.

In baseball, generally speaking, too many black or midnight blue caps. Lack of unique or plentiful colors in many of the uniforms. I actually liked when the Marlins wore aqua caps, when the Padres wore the brown caps w/the gold crown in front, when the Pirates had gold caps, the Astros had orange caps, now they're all bland, boring, and undetectable at first glance.

In both MLB & NFL, too many "alternate" uniforms. Have 1 road uniform, 1 home uniform, and that's it. The only thing I don't mind are when certain teams wear a different cap when on the road. I loved it back in the 90s when the Blue Jays would wear the blue & white cap at home, and the solid blue cap on the road. I love that the Tigers Old English "D" is orange on the road caps, and white at home. I dislike when every other team in creation feels the need to do this however (Cubs, Braves, Mets). I do like when the Cards wear the dark blue caps on the road, that's ok. The A's road caps are semi-bearable.

In the NFL, since it's football season, and since I don't follow basketball or hockey at all, I'd like to do a quick rundown on all the teams and my peeves of their uniforms. I don't pay attention to socks so much, but jerseys, numerals on the jerseys, and the helmet colors & insignias.

I miss the classic Dolphins look. The current look is a bit too cartoonish. I deplore when they wear aqua on aqua (shirt & pants), and prefer the more classic look used in the prior decades. I did like when the orange outline actually touched the edge of the numerals, and not when the outline was placed like a 1/2 inch or 1 inch apart from the numeral edges.

The current Patriots set is ok, in spite of the fact that they use the outlining of the numerals the way they do. I dislike that silver "alternate" they wear at home however.

It's funny about the Jets. During the 90s, I kept clammoring for the "Joe Willie" uniforms, and in 1998 they switched them. Now I'm finding that I'm rather fickle, and wishing they'd go back to the kelly green helmets & uniforms used, or to combine elements of these 2 to make a new uniform. I prefer it, whenever possible, for all teams in a divison to have different colored helmets. The AFC West, NFC East & NFC North are the only 3 divisions right now who can claim that. Were the Jets to go back to the kelly green color, which is nicer than the forest green or midnight green look, it would be most pleasant.

I detest the numerals used on the Steeler uniforms. They are much too skinny, almost "wimpy" looking. The Steelers and their nickname is big and bold, and I prefer the numeral set they used during their glory years. And while it's mildly annoying to me that they only have their logo on one side of the helmet, I've grown used to it after watching NFL football for over 35 years.

The Ravens uniform set is ok, but again, I hate when they do the black shirt on black pants thing. White shirts & white pants are ok for certain teams, and they are one of them in my opinion.

The Bengals uniforms numbers, again, too wimpy looking, I preferred their look from the late 80s, early 90s, and the classic football numerals.

The Browns are bland, but acceptable. I sometimes miss it when they do not wear the orange pants w/the brown shirts, but the white pants look ok w/that too.

Texans are fine, except lose the red shirt "alternates".

Colts are classic, but would prefer the blue facemask.

Jaguars are ok, I did like their 1995 uniform numerals better, but the current set is ok. I detest the black on black look however, and dislike the black jerseys period for them.

Titans are fine, except again when they do the light blue shirts & light blue pants. Too monocrhomatic. I wish the league would step in and require this mono-color look to stop, again unless it's white on white (with at least one notable exception).

Chargers current uniform set is pretty sleek. Their alternate powder blue set is one of the few alternates that I can accept.

Broncos look nice, but I'm not into it when they wear those orange shirts, stick w/the dark blue. Is it just me, or back in the 70s, the jerseys were much more of a RED-orange, before they went to just orange.

Raiders - their uniforms are about the only good thing about them.

Chiefs - same deal

Cowboys - I miss the numeral style they had in the 70s. The numbers look much too thick now.

Eagles - Again, similar to the Jets, I prefer their kelly green scheme. The 90s uniforms were some of the best, modern yet classic. now the helmet is far too dark, and again, last night they wore those fugly black shirts. They should not ever EVER EVER wear those, even if it's a national time of mourning!

Redskins - Classic look, but I hate the white shirts & white pants combo. They should ALWAYS wear the burgandy pants w/the white shirts, ALWAYS.

Giants - Nice remake of a classic uniform from days gone by, and they've had 2 Super Bowl appearances and one very incredible win w/this set. The blue in their helmet is a bit too "glittery" for my liking (same w/the Skins & many other helmets now), I'd like to see them go back to the midnight blue look.

Bears - ever so classic, love the GSH on their sleeves, they should remain there forever, and I believe that is their intention! I hate the orange shirts, they should be burned.

Vikings - I preferred their 70s look, and when a team w/such a fierce nickname actually played OUTDOORS! Their current look is atrocious. The uniform set they had 10 years ago was bearable, I'd much prefer that to their current stuff.

Packers - Another classic look, no change needed.

Lions - Ditch the black outline, the black shirt alternates, go back to your 2 primary colors, Hawaiian blue & silver, and for Heaven's sake, please disallow the Lions to ever play on Thanksgiving again. Every stinking year they are on, and every stinking year they are worse. NOBODY enjoys watching the annual bloodbath of this pathetic team. Better still, 86 the Thanksgiving Day games altogether & the Thursday night games. Keep it on Sundays only. Monday Night Football matchups are very sub-par and semi-interesting at best. The Panthers vs Bucs game is about the only interesting matchup they have left, and please stop forcing us to watch the Raiders on MNF every year until they become relevant again!!!

Falcons - one of the few updates that I really like. I prefer them to wear the red shirts, and ditch the black.

Panthers - classic look, but again, ditch the black alternate shirts.

Saints - Keep your standard look, and get rid of the black pants look, it's dreadful

Bucs - Pewter pants good, white pants, awful, no white pants

Rams - Much too blah and bland now. Their uniforms were classic up through Super Bowl 34. Now it's darker, dingier, and it looks bland, especially in that dreadful dome that they play in. Bring back the bright gold horns!!!

Cardinals - Very nice update, just again avoid doing the red on red thing.

49ers - I prefer their Joe Montana set to the current set that they've had for about 10 years now. I prefer the two red stripes & one white center stripe down the middle of the helmet.

Seahawks - Bearable, but the dark blue on dark blue must go. White pants w/the dark shirt, WHITE!!! WHITE!!!!

Thank you and happy holidays! Be kind to those who work in stores. I read a terrible story how a Wal-Mart worker was literally trampled to death this morning in Arkansas, because so many people were in such a rush and were so desperate to get their hands on material items to celebrate the birth of a savior. It's really sad to me.

Hockey teams not called the Rangers wearing wordmarks. Lazy, lazy, lazy.

I'm a Pens fan and have to agree. I remember when they pulled a Rangers copy back in the day with Pittsburgh going down the front. Yuck.

As for my pet peeves:

Teams confusing alternate/third jersey with a throwback jersey.

The new hockey jerseys with the dress look and spandex.

NBA teams jerseys being bland as white rice.

NFL teams wearing white at home.

That is all I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are more.

I don't know why, but one thing that bugs me in basketball and baseball is when teams wear away jerseys that have the team name on them instead of the city. Like the Rays, instead of it saying 'Tampa Bay' across the jersey, it says 'Rays.' For some reason that bugs me. I think the Rays are the only team in baseball that do it, but in basketball I know the Bulls, the Rockets, the Clippers, the Lakers, and a few other teams have their road uniforms say the team name across the chest instead of the city. I personally think that when you play on the road, your uniform should have the cities name on it instead of the teams name, you want the home team and their fans to know where your from.

Another thing I don't like is when a team has a logo for the first letter in the teams name. I like it better when the teams have a logo of the first letter in the cities name. An example is the Bengals "striped-B" logo they use as their primary, the 'B' standing for Bengals. If it were up to me...the logo would be a 'C' with stripes on it, for Cincinnati. As an Indians fan, I also hate that little 'I' they used to have on their alternate caps, I like the new alternate with the 'C' on it. I'm one of those guys that prefers to represent the city in the uniforms.

I understand that was the original reason for the city name on the road jersey, but it seems a little outdated now. Does anybody not know where the other team is from?

My pet peeves about the Alouettes' uniforms, for example:

If they wear red jerseys at home in an important game, like the East Division Final, they will win.

If they wear black jerseys at home, something terrible is going to happen.

Big pet peeve here is when people lose sight of the word itself...uniform. Things should match. Striping patterns should match. Colors should match. Details should be branded and match. I hate when a team has one look at home, thens omething unconnected on the road. (Nats...I'm talking to you!)

Well, they're called "uniforms" because everyone on the team is wearing a uniform look. Not that the clothing itself should match. It's "uniform" because your QB isn't wearing blue, WR wearing grey, RB wearing black, etc.

That said, going back to the initial post: I hate the white sock bottoms in the NFL. Socks worn in solid colors are tremendous. The Lions' Thanksgiving unis are great. I also dig the Patriots' three stripe socks.

The home team and their fans will probably know where your from, but you should always represent the city your playing for I think. Let them know where your from and that your proud to play for that city. Thats just how I look at it.

Mainly, an atrocity against sports aesthetics.

The monochrome uniform like the Saints and Ravens do. It doesn't look "tuff" or "badass", it looks stupid.

The low socks where you see a 350 lb lineman's hamhock. Nasty.....

Socks should be white.

When a player has his ankles taped, it should be in white tape, not black, not blue, etc.

Those black strips that players write something irrelevant and that no one gives a crap about it in the first place and put them under their eyes.

Dreadlocks sticking out from under the helmet.

Those sweatbands that are worn above the elbows that are just thin strips.
