2009 NFL Season Thread

First time checking in this thread.

Does anybody have ESPN's Insider? There's a headline on ESPN.com that says "Rumors: Possible QB flips in STL/MIA (insider)", and I'm just curious if there's anything to that. I tend to doubt it for the Rams, but I'm curious.

Got a link, Justin? I just checked Rumor Central and I didn't see that headline, but there was an article on Pennington, they were talking about benching him. I gather they were just putting out the possibility of the Rams doing the same.

They realize Kyle Boller is their backup QB?

I don't wanna know who their 3rd QB is, then.

Tony Banks.

The Patriots still have not gotten their OL situation settled. Last season, Cassel was sacked once every 12 pass attempt. Their pass protection so far looks very shaky.

And it just let Buffalo score a touchdown.

Shock over yesterday's play to lose to Denver turned to anger today. Roy Williams not playing the ball, Chris Crocker the same, Leon Hall batting the ball in the air like nothing bad could come of it and Dhani Jones chasing Stokley like he didn't have a shot at catching him (he did). By tomorrow I'll probably be at the acceptance stage.

This the NFL. Ain't nothing guaranteed. Not even hole-field advantage.

THAT'S...why they play the games.

EDIT: and, at current check, the Billies are up 14-10 and driving.

(And In an ironic twist, the Billies were just a beneficiary of an on-field call that was created chiefly due to the QB god of the opposing team. Tee-hee. ;) )

EDIT #2: in response to the post above, Roy Williams hardly ever plays the ball. That's been his major malfunction throughout his career. It was his major malfliction in college. His brain stays too occupied with making the big knockout hit, so much so that he forgets he actually has to, well, cover, and, you know, sometimes, play the ball instead of the man.

*Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. 😁

That is why Roy Williams has never lived up to his potential

Potential? He is what he is and now, he is what we thought he was. Hit first, cover third. That was known in 2005 when he let Santana moss get past him twice in the last 3 minutes. As as for Leon Hall, he thought he could make a play rather than have Marshall catch the ball, or have it go incomplete for another play, but it failed on a catastrophic level (for a regular season game, that is).

:censored:!

You know the returner is going to get killed for not taking a knee but running it out wasn't a bad play. He got beyond the 20 and killed off the remaining time till the 2:00 preventing the Pats from getting a free timeout. That said he should get killed for not protecting the ball and fighting for more yards after the first hit.

If anybody asks you why you love the NFL, point them towards this Patriots-Bills game. WOW.

Also, lmao @ the Bills choking away another win on MNF. Like seriously, wow. They're making this into a habit now.
