Casper- The Casper Ghosts are pleased to announce that the winner of their 10th Anniversary Logo Contest is Boyd Erickson of Bozeman, MT. Mr. Erickson's design was selected over more than 100 other entries that came in from all over the country. The logo will be used on various Casper Ghosts marketing items as well as merchandise during the upcoming season.

"We are thrilled the Ghosts selected our logo and we can't wait to come down for opening day next year and see how it looks" Mr. Erickson said in a phone statement Saturday night. Boyd and his wife Nikki are avid baseball fans and started a graphics design company called Tumbleweed Graphics in 2009.

"Mr. President, call in the National Guard! Send as many men as you can spare! Because we are killing the Patriots! They need emergency help!" - Shannon Sharpe

The team is going to have a nightmare of a time if and when they try to embroider this...

No kidding. Embroidery is the #1 starting point to consider when designing a logo you know will be a patch. The thread-count alone on this is a disaster, irregardless of the sheer number of unnecessary outlines and shadows/highlights on everything. This is just brutal.

You really didn't just type "irregardless", did you?

Regardless of the "irregardless" grammatical issues, there are 6 -- count 'em, SIX! -- outlines around some parts of this logo. THAT WILL NEVER EMBROIDER!

Maybe the team should have another contest: one to find the replacement for the front office staff member who decided the best way to develop a 10th Anniversary logo for the team would be to have a contest!

While I applaud the inclusion of the Willamette River and Spencer Butte in the new mark, I'd prefer that a team named the Emeralds sport a bit more Green in their logo. Frankly, if you're going to be named the Emeralds, Green should be the primary hue in your color scheme. Here it is just an accent color.

Speaking of 2010 minor-league changes, it will be interesting to see what the Wilmington Blue Rocks unveil this coming week.

The New York-Penn League has announced that ownership of the Oneonta Tigers has filed an application to relocate to Norwich, Connecticut's Dodd Stadium in time for the 2010 season. While the change of venue is likely to be approved, don't look for the team to undergo a major rebranding this year. Citing the late start that the club will be getting in making the move, as well as rules governing the time-table for team identity and logo changes, franchise owner Miles Prentice said that the team will most likely be known as the Connecticut Tigers for at least the first season in Norwich.

That's fitting considering their connection to the Padres whose primary logo and colors have nothing to do with the Friars they were named after :)
