Yeah first ever Blue Jacket. I'm sure it's bittersweet but Upshall and Lepisto are both solid players and should help CBJ down the stretch.

Oh it definitely is. Klesla's always been a fan favorite around here - but I think talent-wise the CBJ definitely win this deal. Not completely sure what the Coyotes are thinking here...

Extremely slow deadline day.

A lot of pre-deadline moves. A lot of nothing on the Edmonton front. Brad Richards' health in question. Almost all of the West in contention.

Things starting to come in quickly.

Done: Brad Winchester to Anaheim, 2012 3rd round pick to St. Louis

Report that Dustin Penner going to Montreal, Jarred Tinordi and 1st round pick to Edmonton

EDIT: Penner deal was from fake twitter account. Disregard.

Also, Ducks close to another deal, likely moving Maxim Lapierre out. Goes along with most of the deals today. A lot of 2nd and 3rd tier guys.

Good trade for EDM

Apparently the other pick is a 3rd.

Yeah beat to it... Damn faulty backspace key.

But, damn, Penner back to SoCal, but on the wrong side of the county line. And for almost nothing. Not looking forward to 6 meeting with Dusty next year and the final two games this year. He always likes to stick it to the Ducks.

And to think back when he won the Cup in 07 with Anaheim, the most dominant line was Penner-Getzlaf-Perry. They had those 3 hold up the Cup together for a picture. I looked at that picture and said, "Damn. That's the future. I expect a duplicate." Had he not signed that outrageous offer sheet from Edmonton, and the Ducks still had those 3, then add in Bobby Ryan and the rest of the roster that year, the Ducks might have had another Cup in these last 4 years, but who's to know. Oh well.

Damn you Dusty. Now we'll have to boo you harder than we did as an Oiler.

This is an emotional trade from the personal side of things for me too. He was the first ever Blue Jackets' draft pick and he was the last remaining original Blue Jacket. With Klesla you just always thought if he could stay healthy he'd develop into one of the best defenseman in the league, but he was just so injury prone. He's injured right now actually.

From a personnel standpoint, we win the trade, but it's sad to see him go and know he won't be apart of the CBJ revolution (oh it's coming :P )

Big fish Ales Hemsky and Brad Richards probably aren't going to get traded.

TSN said that Dallas is talking to the Rangers about Richards, one reason why LA went ahead and got Penner (even though I never thought that the Stars would trade him within the division, especially to the Kings).

20 minutes left.
