Apparently one symbol can represent more teams, and a team can be represented more than once because one of the organizers wrote that we should find as much connections as possible. So the maple leaf can stand for Canadiens as well.

I also like the boxing day thing.

P.S. I just realized that Canadians have quite nationalistic team names: Canucks, Canadiens, Maple Leafs

According to Answers.com

A Canuck is a slang name for a Canadian. Just like Yankee in slang for an American.also it origanated from a canaidian boxer named johnny canuck who you can now find on luangos mask

I cannot find anywhere else the boxing reference but perhaps the riddle's authors made just a quick search.

I sure will. The deadline is on Sunday.

I still need some ideas about the photographer.

St. Louis- he has blue hair and a blue shirt.

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

4x6 is 24. So not every team is represented.

Going the extremely abstract route...boxers = eye hand coordination (x2 of them to make it plural) = eyehanders. Islanders?

Another off the wall one for the photographer...camera with rangefinder = Rangers? Possibly also the background of 2b, although its not much of a mountain range.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but theres a black silhouette of a bird in front of the Blackhawks picture, not sure if that could mean anything.
