Minor Majors?

I'm proud of myself for successfully introducing "the mothership" as the nickname for the main page. At least I think it was me. I'm gonna run a search and make sure.

I like it when charter teams have their nicknames go all the way down but also incorporate some twists on the parent club. The Springfield Cardinals' rainbow Ozark skyline is probably my favorite minor league sports logo ever, and that's high praise from someone who goes around mocking the Cardinals all the time. I get that some people don't like the unoriginality of it, but, like, when you think about the well-oiled top-to-bottom machine that is the Atlanta Braves system, doesn't it make sense that their prospects are imbued with Being A Brave from the bottom all the way to the top?

Do note, however, that I have no desire to see tier upon tier of Diamondbacks.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

Personally, I prefer what the LA Kings had a few years ago.

LA Kings (NHL) -> Manchester Monarchs (AHL) -> Reading Royals (ECHL)

Keep the same theme, don't use the same name.

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

I like that strategy too, keeps the tie in to the affiliate while being it's own thing for the locality.

That's what I prefer as well. Or better still just be original with maybe a color homage to the parent team. Teams change affiliation so often it's just better to develop your own identity and maybe tweak it as needed like say the Portland SeaDogs did when they went from Florida to Boston.

I always thought the Athletics should have something like the Bears, Coyotes, and Dragons (or whatever) as minor league team names so they could all wear green and gold caps that read A's, B's, C's, and D's as if a player is gaining a letter each time he goes up a league. :P

Greeneville Astros - Rookie

What's the deal with the capital "E" in GreenEville? Am I missing something? Is it so they aren't confused with another team or city with the name of "Greenville"? Really messes up the look of the logo.

It is what it is.

They kinda had that started a few years ago before the Vancouver Canadians switched MLB teams from the A's to the Blue Jays. The last year they were an A's affiliate they changed their cap to this...

Any idea what's with the upper-case "E"?

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

My sticking point was always whether or not the farm club played in the parent club's market. It would make sense for the Mississippi club to call itself the Braves even if it weren't directly owned by the organization because people in Mississippi are that much more likely to come out to see a team of future Braves than, say, future Mariners or future Reds.

Although I still like long-running Minor League brands to stay alive regardless of affiliation, as in Portland should always be the Beavers no matter who sets up shop there.

In the Sea Dogs 14 year history, they've only had two affiliations, but I see your point. The Sea Dogs have been able to have their own logo set, but throughout the course of the Dogs history, they've used similar uniforms to their major league affiliate (Red Sox number font on the home uniform and similar road uniforms to the 1990-2008 Red Sox [see below] right now, pinstripes back when they were the Marlins' affiliate).

I was gonna say, for as long as I could remember, the Braves have used "Braves" for everything but High A. Which I think is cool...both the uniformity, and the exception (Bulls/Pelicans/HillCats?)
