College Football 2012 Season

The Big Ten is going to add its logo to uniforms in the Fall, according to this article.

"Besides, she added, those clean, traditionally designed uniforms will be mucked up with a Big Ten logo this year. She didn?t exactly say mucked up. ?We have to have Big Ten branding on the uniforms this year moving forward. It was voted on by the member ADs,? is what she actually said, but the message was pretty clear: No one wants to start putting patches all over the place. Next thing you know, the Buckeyes jerseys will look like a NASCAR driver?s jumpsuit."

That disappoints me since I don't think it is necessary, but oh well, everyone else has done it.

I don't mind them if they aren't too garish or large and use school colors.

I wish GT would move to these bad boys full time... Maybe add a word mark above the numbers tho, looks like a lot of empty space.

Anyone know when their contract with Russell ends? I feel like GT has so much potential uniform wise. Just need to be Nike or even UA.

Why, so they can anthracize half the uniform and go adding bee wing patterns to the jersey shoulders?or have unnecessary seams and panels running down the back of the legs? Naw, I'll pass.

The funny thing is the uniform pictured above was produced by Russell. All Tech needs to do is tell Russell to shove their s#!tty proprietary templates, and get back to that look right there?shade of gold, white lid and all. Auburn realizes this, someone needs to tell Tech to fall in line.

*Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. 😁

Funny that you used Auburn as an example, since they left Russell for UA IIRC.

Ah, common misconception there Bucco. Nike is quite capable of creating new uniforms that are also tasteful and subtle. Virginia, Virginia Tech, Minnesota, Pitt, Michigan State, to name a few. But yeah, UA would probably do everything you mentioned.

Michigan State's football uniform does not fit the definition of tasteful or subtle.

But compared to some of the other uniforms Nike has done, MSU's uniforms are definitely conservative.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (CHL - 2018 Orr Cup Champions) Chicago Rivermen (UBA/WBL - 2014, 2015, 2017 Intercontinental Cup Champions)

King's Own Hexham FC (BIP - 2022 Saint's Cup Champions) Portland Explorers (EFL - Elite Bowl XIX Champions) Real San Diego (UPL) Red Bull Seattle (ULL - 2018, 2019, 2020 Gait Cup Champions) Vancouver Huskies (CL)

Subtle, maybe not. Stylish without being outlandish? Very much so. I personally have grown to like the bronze.

Why you make fun of me? I make concept for Auburn champions and you make fun of me. I cry tears.
Chopping off the dicks of Filipino boys and embracing causes that promote bigotry =/= strong moral character.

Depends on which one you're talking about. The regular home uniform is fairly basic.

The "special" home uniforms aren't that crazy nor are the roads really. They both have a little more something to them, but not really that out there.

Michigan states uniforms look pretty tasteful and subtle to me. I actually really like them. Now if we're talking pro combats that's a different story, by their regular ones look great IMO and are better than any of russels designs.

That's right. UA did kind of mess up our pants and shoulder stripes last year though because of their template.

I was under the impression that the plain uniform was the 'special' one, especially given the fact that the other two are basically matching designs in opposing colors, while the plain one is the odd man out. I believe that's how the system was unveiled, and while the plain uniform is certainly better than the two contrasting-shoulder ensembles, the over-the-top lettering/numerals and ridiculous helmet stripe totally ruin it (as well as the others).

The numbers aren't over-the-top, especially when compared with the fonts that other schools - see Rutgers, for example - have. It's a simple block font with a minor embellishment.

Yeah, it's a little weird but the plain uniform is designated as the regular home even though it doesn't match the road. They tend to wear it in less meaningful games, although I was surprised to see the plainer uni in the Big Ten championship game last year.

I am not a huge fan of the lettering or numbers, but I disagree about the helmet stripe. I think it is great that it matches the plume of the Spartan logo.

It's not as over the top as it could be, but it's still very gimmicky, and as such, it seems a bit dated, given that gimmicky seems to be on its way out in other facets of design.
