People in New England only realized they had a football team 12 years ago and now they're the most popular team on Twitter?

Social media sucks.

Same reason why GB is famous. They won championships. If Jax has a run like that they would also be one of the more popular teams. Especially if their Tom Brady is still on the team. Winning always equaled fame.

Edit: How strange to see Orlando #2 in the NBA.

The first female to ever try out for the NFL (as a kicker) didn't get off to such a good start....

...the next attempt she made caused a leg injury.

Then how do you explain the Jets at #2 on twitter when they've barely done anything in over four decades? Or the Packers selling out every game during their 21-year playoff drought?

The Patriots may as well have not even existed until 2001.

So how does one explain them having more fans than the New York team that has two Super Bowls in the past half-decade?

Headlines, Hard Knocks, goofy roster, Tebow, Rex Ryan, Sanchez, and what's really done it is that they've sucked ass. Nothing generates headlines like seeing a high profile team crumble with such little dignity like the Jets do.

I think the Patriots started "existing" in the mid-1990s with Parcells, but before that they were always the clear #4. There's an old Curly-Haired Boyfriend piece in the archives from 1990 or so where he dry-humps the Red Sox and Celtics for a few pages, calls the Bruins a cult thing for guys who go bowling and beat their wives, and then completely writes off the Patriots as some strange peripheral thing playing a brutal bloodsport altogether foreign to Our Faire Newe Englande.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

The amazing thing is not that the Cardinals have the fewest twitter followers in the NFL, but that they have the fewest in all four team sports. Fewer than every team in the NHL. Let that sink in.

Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse."

Coyotes: Gee if that only translated to attendance...

I saw, I came, I left.

Indeed. But the fact that teams don't necessarily have to do well on the field to have a following was essentially the point I was trying to make.

Seattle DB Richard Sherman went onto ESPN's morning fiasco today for the sole purpose of blasting Skip Bayless.

Not only did he do a sh1tty job of it, he did the impossible and got Skip over in the process.

Something for fans to know and for owners/players to think about this may relate to the distribution of what the CBA calls, "All Revenue".

DirecTV is re-thinking their relationship with the NFL and it's Sunday Ticket package.

That's also something to know in terms of choice and the possibility of being able to see games on a PPV basis without having to subscribe to DirecTV. With today's technology it's ridiculous that a fan can't pay a fee to watch his or her team of choice on whatever platform best suits them.
