NFL '13 SEASON THREAD

I'm more so exhausted of the same teams having playoff success.

You know, this is absolutely true. For all the circlejerking over NFL parity, it's really been the same old teams at the top for the last 10 to 15 years, with many of the same teams at the bottom, too. How dare anyone talk about parity with the playoff streaks and droughts in this league.

Because the NFL's league officers will be damned if the public realizes that the same 6-7 teams have benchmarked the top echelon of the league this whole time. Because the idea of football parity sells tickets, ups the drama and increases TV viewership for all the owners to reap.

Which is why it's so laughable that NFL fans scoff at the NBA because "the same teams win every year," as if the Colts, Patriots, Ravens, Niners, Giants, etc. aren't almost always relevant and teams like the Browns and Jaguars don't always suck.

It's easy to "enjoy sports" when you're routinely rewarded with success, but I won't let that pointless argument further pollute your parade.

I know CS isn't "Colt-hating", per se', but he's done enough of essentially the same thing that I'll just thank him for taking care of it for me.

I mean, I say this with all due respect for the players, coaches, whoever - this season, that team has just rubbed me the wrong way. How many times can you put yourself into huge deficits and somehow come back and win? If it happens in Denver next week, they aren't going to have a prayer to come back and win.

You know, I never really understood all the hate Eagles fans such as BBTV had for Andy Reid and his clock management, but MY GOD. I totally understand what they mean now. That was one of the poorest examples of a final drive I've ever seen at any level of football. I mean, really, what type of moron calls their final time out coming off of the two minute warning?!?!

I didn't think that was so bad. The most important thing was coming out with the right play. The timeout was pretty meaningless at that point since a first down would've put them in fg range and, if they got the first, they could play at whatever tempo they wanted.
Just look at the way Andy Reid managed the end of that game. Wasting time outs earlier in the quarter, running bubble screens for sacks, and then that final time out. I'm sorry, but that was flat out miserable.
I only caught from the intentional grounding to when the clock struck 0:00 so I was just talking about the timeout after the two minute warning, which I didn't think was as bad as it was made out to be. I will never argue against the notion that he's terrible with managing a football game.

Fair enough. I was mainly using the time out coming off of the two minute warning as a microcosm of the way that final quarter went for the Chiefs. In the context of how it was used following their previous time out calls it was horrible, and it basically summed Andy Reid's in game management in one action.

Why not?

We've already seen Denver blow a 24-point lead and lose earlier this year (and now will be without Von Miller, and Welker's a big question mark as well), and we saw Denver blow a touchdown lead with under a minute left in a playoff game last year.

Because without my outrageously stubborn nature, I am an empty husk of a poster.

Well, it's more like the same team wins the NBA every year.

He may be medically cleared, but you don't think multiple concussions and a cold, hardened playing surface won't be crossing his mind? That's why he'll be a question mark during the playoffs.

Um, could Al Michaels been a little more excited for a playoff game-winning field goal? Did his best Joe Buck impression there.

Saints win a back and forth one and move on to face the Seahawks (and we remembered what happened when they were there on Monday Night earlier on.)

Two games decided by a combined three points. Tomorrow has a lot to live up to.

Maybe Michaels represented the whole NBC/NFC East mantra and how dejected they were about the Eagles.

Anyways, the playoff path is a lot more clear now. New Orleans goes to Seattle, and Carolina gets the winner of tomorrow's Packers-49ers freezer game. The Colts either go to Denver if the Bengals win, or to Foxboro if the Chargers win. Either way, there will be a juicy Divisional plot-line for the Colts and their next opponent.
