Elwood
Marquette's F1 inspired vertical striping reminded me of magenta and orange of the old ABA Miami Floridians and the horizontal stripes of the SuperSonics shorts: c.'71 Floridians: '69-70 SuperSonics road:

Elwood
Looking at those Floridians uniforms if Milwaukee used that same concept but with irish green and forest green ..it could work! That would be quite intriguing. It's such a simple concept, but with all the horizontal patterns we've become accustomed to and bombarded with, it's so easy to neglect. I don't recall seeing a Bucks' concept with bold vertical rainbow striping or have I? Now the vertical stripes reminded me of the old Packers' sideline cape and for some reason, this usher suit from the '60s too:
Elwood
I forgot to mention this very important news: Bango the Mascot's retiring. His wife took a job and the family is moving after the end of the season. The Bucks have posted a job description for Bango:

Gothamite
I still prefer the rainbows, but dark green with just a touch of red is a fantastic color scheme. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.
hawk36
I still prefer the rainbows, but dark green with just a touch of red is a fantastic color scheme.Agreed. I think a dark green with a slight touch of a very bright red (think Seahawks sparing use of neon green) could be very cool. Gothamite
The problem they have now is an overabundance of red. They should never wear a red alt. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.

Elwood
I suppose most practice jerseys looked like tank tops. Here's Portland Trail Blazers practice jersey from the '70s: Lew's jersey sold for close to $4,500 and this self portrait for $450 at auction last year:

Elwood
I just love this thread. Purely classic and entertaining in small and big ways. Lol at the self portraitThank you Shadojoker. Here's the description of Lew's self-portrait: Mid 1960's Lew Alcindor Hand Drawn Self Portrait - From Burt Britton Collection. Infatuated with the arts, young "Village Vanguard" bartender Burt Britton served drink after drink to a solitary last guest, the legendary Norman Mailer, trying to get him to leave, so he could go home to bed. "What do you want from me, kid?" "Norman, here, on this piece of paper, do a self-portrait for me, drink your drink, and let's call it a night." And that, according to Britton, "began all this madness." The offered "Self-portrait" of Lew Alcindor was obtained in the mid-1960's by Britton, who told the under-age basketball star that the price of admission was to draw him a self-portrait. Measuring at 4x9.5", the toned envelope features a stick pencil drawing from Alcindor, and it is one of numerous celebrity drawings in the Britton Collection that was featured in his book "Self-Portrait: Book People Picture Themselves". 1963 "Lew Alcindor, basketball player, 61st Street and Amsterdam Avenue, New York City, May 2" by Richard Avedon:

illwauk
UW-Green Bay "Bay Badgers" (they became the Phoenix in 1970)…Green Bay, Milwaukee, and Parkside all had identities based on Bucky for their first few years as part of the UW system. Here's Milwaukee as the UWM Cardinals. The men's basketball team played in their first national tournament (NCAA D2 Tournament) with this identity in 1960.
