Padres - Nationals retro uniforms

The Padres and the Nationals are playing tonight in their 1936 uniforms. Of course, the Padres were in the PCL that year (their first year in San Diego).

I know. But just like those Red Sox uniforms that were worn against the Cubs, sometimes historic isn't always pleasing to me.

Wow. Those uniforms look like they almost fit properly. San Diego's uniform is OK I guess. The best thing about the whole deal is the socks.

I'm loving both uniforms, especially Washington's ones compared to San Diego's, because while the Padres' ones aren't bad in the least, they look a little too bland for my tastes.

Yes, stirrups are quite rare these days in the bigs.

The 1936 Senators are now actually the Minnesota Twins haha. So really these throwbacks don't honor a period in Nationals history. Washington baseball history yes, but I guess I just don't see the point of them considering how new the Nats are

to answer the sock question it actually the seem from the stir ups they are just the same color as the socks and striped socks were very common in the era of baseball for the style of uniforms

The Nats looked strange with different color sanitary socks under the stirrups. Some players were wearing red socks, some were wearing dark ones, and the bulk were wearing the proper white ones.

The Padres were guilty, too.

Overall, this was a good throwback effort. I still wish Majestic would learn to place the numbers higher toward the neckline when no name is on the back of a jersey.

I think throwback games are better when the teams wear uniforms that someone actually remembers seeing on the field, but that's just me, I guess. I'd like to have see the sets these came into the league with in 1969.

They honor WASHINGTON baseball history. They have the records of the Expos and they honor Expos records, but you cannot seriously expect a Washington team to wear Montreal throwbacks.
