  1. I find the title somewhat misleading due to the fact that the franchise is moving but the name Baby Cakes would stay in New Orleans, and that they're looking into getting a Southern League team to relocate to New Orleans. The Carolina Mudcats moved to Pensacola to become the Blue Wahoos, and the Kinston Indians moved to Zebulon to become the "new" Carolina Mudcats. It's just one of those Minor League things. Plus, you guys complain about Brandiose too much
  2. oh no they're fine now, I've met a couple of them through my friend. Go for it! also @Griffinmarlins they rebranded and changed their handles
  3. Nah it exists I looked him up during posting that. I’m not gonna show where cause it’s not worth it, but man I’ve seen his portfolio and it’s not strong
  4. Big :censored:in farts bro

  5. So i've been quiet about this for a few years because I didn't want to make enemies in the industry I was trying to break into, but check this out. I applied to the United Soccer League in 2016. Did some test graphics for them (which they wanted built in indesign, big red flag). Here's one matchup graphic i made with the assets they gave me. In my in person, the designer Enrique Alvarado said he liked what I made but would maybe move the USL logo to the bottom corner. Totally reasonable, i was scared to break from brand guidelines and put it on a busy background. So imagine my surprise when this is their playoff graphics I didn't want to get into a fight but this really hurt me, because 1. I didn't get the job and 2. it looked worse! My friends took it upon themselves to go after him on twitter and I stayed out of it, all he replied with was some laughing emojis. They asked if i was interested in a position in 2017 which i turned down because I was with the Rays, and still had a job opportunity at Under Armour open. But mostly I would've socked him in his face when I saw Enrique. Since then, a close friend began working there and apparently he got fired (which is why the position opened up) and the mood seems to be that he was genuinely awful. There's some crossover in twitter followings so people will tag us together if it's about soccer design and I still absolutely hold this grudge. So if you're reading this Enrique, kiss my ass
  6. I went out and watched some local Aussie Rules, figures out the rules, and joined the club for their next season. did a quick search for these concepts because I liked so much about this thread not knowing anything about the sport. Now that I do, I can fully say there’s some really really neat designs I wish were real! Love the Wyoming and Winthrop ones I hadn’t seen until now. Good job Discrim
  7. Yeah it bugged out copying the link and I copied one that was in the place after an ad was loaded. Fixed as quick as I could but looks like you two got there about the same time.
  8. Here’s a big reveal from the Broncos logo designer with a ton of sketches of potential logos https://www.behance.net/gallery/61221339/The-Denver-Broncos-Identity
  9. That snowcap/8 sided star is really really cool
  10. So the first instance of me saying Macon Bacon I could find was from 2012, but the first result on this boards is @Mac the Knife from 2004!
  11. Sure if you ignore the fact the Rays still have above average TV ratings https://www.forbes.com/sites/maurybrown/2016/09/28/here-are-the-2016-mlb-prime-time-television-ratings-for-each-team/2/#7ea293f1791d Or the fact they have the most twitter followers than any of the other 90s expansion teams Extremely biassed, but damn dude get your head out of your ass. Yeah there's other fans here, and I don't blame them for wanting to support their home team. The front office is doing what they can to move on. They toured Atlanta last week, like previously mentioned. They'e evaluating the options of financials because they want to get it absolutely right. The commissioner of baseball was here last week. He toured stadium sites in Tampa. I grew up with this team and nearly everyone who grew up here is a Rays fan. The fan base is growing. If only someone pointed out it's a location and facility problem, rather than the market being broken.
  12. This seems like one of those concept scorebugs that is super clean on paper but it really comes off as bland in action. Replace the team names with the logos and you can decrease the width by like, a third.
  13. I've said Macon Bacon would be my minor league team name for years, think that's grounds to sue?
  14. Oh yeah cause Griffey being on the Reds doesn't count
  15. Yeah there's 4 of them. Kane County Cougars, Vasalia Rawhide, the 51's, and the Charlotte Knights Kane County hasn't tweeted the new branding but the picture in the first link shows it might be the same general logos
  16. So I checked the boards for the first time this weekend and saw this, and had a bunch of thoughts. First, what a clickbait awful article with a source with no leads. I know a few minor details about the stadium they're looking to build, and I'm not sharing anything. This is all research as a fan of the team, and information that's available. What I do know is that they're in year 2 of a 3 year deal that they can look outside St. Pete for stadium locations. They aren't rushing stadium plans like the 2008 sail stadium. They're going to be smart about this, and not build some 400 million dollar playground for billionaires. They've come out saying they want to have a community footprint and make it a 365 day facility, which could justify /some/ public money since it would hypothetically be open on non game days with shops and bars or whatever. They were going to put atleast $150 million of their own money to the sail stadium and hope the public voted for $300 million of the rest of it. That's why it failed. That being said. This is a map of 30 mile radii centered around the Trop and the Lightning's arena. It's hard to draw a good crowd with half of that space under water. No, it's not a certainty they pack up for Tampa, but that's atleast what I tell myself is a glaring issue of a badly designed stadium by Populous a mile inland away from downtown, built 10 whole years before they had a full time baseball tenant.
  17. Unpopular Opinion: The 90s Lightning logo sucked and the jerseys were meh and there's nothing redeeming or better compared to the current set. I've never seen an "add black and silver" Lightning concept that I've liked since the rebrand. it's forcing a square peg into a round hole since the logo wasn't designed to have outlines or fill.
  18. I noticed just now that there's a lot of missing minor league baseball all star logos. Just in terms of looking back, theres some where the most recent are 2013. Easier said then done, just cause some are hard to find uninterrupted or good quality
  19. I came to the realization about a year ago that Bo and Michael Jordan were one year away from being on the same spring training team. Bo left to the Angels for 94, the year Jordan began playing baseball again
  20. That was one of the last ones, but the most recent and overall last one was Padres at Blue Jays last year
  21. That bottom left one is nice. I love that actual designers are coming out to make flag change proposals. I saw one for Tampa, which would be an instant upgrade.
