  1. The powder blue/gold color scheme for the Nuggets never, ever looked right to me. They looked like a team that moved from Southern California to Denver right before the season started, but didn’t have enough time to change thier colors or uniforms. I don’t think it helped matters that they immediately followed an identity that was much more “rugged” for lack of a better term and fit a miner theme really well, as opposed to looking a bit too “fun in the sun” by comparison. I don’t know, it just never clicked for me the way it did for others.
  2. In all honesty, this is darn near perfect. You took the best parts of multiple eras and blended them together very, very well. I also love the new blue and the Denver flag inspiration on the sleeves. Everything is working so well together here. The only critique I have is very minor: I’d swap the colors on the blue pants stripe to white/orange/white to match the helmet. Other than that, I really can’t see anything else I’d change. Fantastic job!
  3. Those edits are perfect. That’s something the Dolphins could keep for the rest of time. Awesome job!
  4. ….Followed by Tiny Tim. Lots of, uh, source material to work with there. T’Wolves Through the Tulips. I’ll see myself out.
  5. I think this is an excellent start! It’s pretty close to being right on. The only two things I’d call out are the tail and eye; I think the part of the tail that leads into the flipper(? - don’t know what it’s called haha) is a little too fat. Notice how it narrows and tapers down into the flipper(?) on the other logos, I think something more like that will nail it. And then with the eye, I think it’s sitting a bit too high up in the head. If it’s brought down a little closer to the mouth, I think that will be a bit more anatomically correct. With those two edits, I think you’ll be on your way to a perfect Dolphins logo. Again, really great start here! You’re absolutely on the right track.
  6. No flak from me; I’ve always considered blue and gold/bronze to be a suitably “federal” color scheme anyways (different shades here, but you get the idea): The color scheme never looked out of place in Washington to me. If anything, I’d argue it fit Washington. I truly think the Wizards (and Capitals) should’ve kept it. I’m really stoked to see it back for the Wizards this year.
  7. In a vacuum, the Warriors uniform isn’t bad at all. Looks like a pretty straightforward, classic-type uniform, which I generally like. The problem I have with it, though, is that I just don’t get it. It’s the “why” of it that isn’t landing, much more so than that “what.” It looks very out of place in the team’s branding and uniform rotation, and I’m just not sure of the justification for it.
  8. Only two games in bone vs. eight games in white…
  9. This is really solid! Your update is much cleaner and gives the package a much needed modernization. I really like this. My only critique would be that the AT&T logo being in a white box to the left is a little distracting, it tends to draw my attention a little too much. I wonder if a solution could be to remove the white box (leaving a transparent background), or if you changed the box to black? That’s really the only thing I’d change though. Everything else is very solid and would be a huge improvement over what ATTSN does now. Great work!
  10. The kerning on the text is an absolute nightmare. Also, the “E” and “H” in “ICEHOGS” doesn’t look like it’s rotating on the axis correctly either, and the second “R” and the “D” of “ROCKFORD” is closer to the edge of the roundel ring than the rest of the letters. I don’t think the Type on a Path tool was used here like it should’ve been. That’s really poor quality.
  11. Spain pulls sky blue off really well, especially with the flag color trim. I need to see the full kit of course before a full judgement, but I’m really liking that one so far. Not sure I like that particular collar on the red kit, but otherwise it looks pretty straightforward and simple. The navy three stripes look nice atop red.
  12. The number font for the Grizzlies’ summer league uniforms is interesting. Are they tweaking something this year, or have they always used a different font for summer league?
  13. Nah, I’m honestly not panicking at all. As much as I’ve enjoyed this Jazz core of players, big changes needed to happen. They weren’t going any farther than they already had, and I really feel like they just weren’t built right as a team after all. It’s better for them to reset and get value back where they can, rather than to keep making futile runs with this core. It could possibly be a bumpy couple of years, but I’m honestly fine with it if they build into a team that’s better positioned to win in the future. I’ll also fully admit that it’s kind of nice as a fan to not have high expectations for them right now, it’s far less stressful to be a Jazz fan today than it was the past couple of seasons for sure.
  14. In all honesty, you bring up a really great point; they’ve got to make those picks count, whether by picking the right players or using them as trade assets for good returns. So we definitely won’t know the impact of these picks - good or bad - until they’re used, of course. But this deal at least puts the Jazz in a much, much better position asset-wise than they were yesterday morning, and that’s got me feeling optimistic over the possibilities. One quick thought I’ve been stewing over since yesterday: Jarred Vanderbilt is a better piece of this deal than I think he’s getting credit for. He’s not helping the Jazz with shooting by any means, but a long, versatile, switchable defender that can guard all five positions (and a very good one at that) is something the Jazz have desperately needed. Depending on what other moves the Jazz make to finish out the roster (there’s rumors of more deals incoming and potentially getting in on Ayton), Vanderbilt may end up being a really solid pickup in the greater scheme of things.
  15. First off, as much as I think a big move like this needed to happen for the Jazz, it’s still surreal that Rudy is not in Utah anymore. He’s one of the greatest players in team history, and a guy who seemed to truly love Utah and the fans. I’ve always been a fan of his, and I’m really glad we got to have nine years with him. I hope he enjoys so much success and many accolades in Minnesota. Looking forwards to seeing his number up in the Vivint Arena rafters in due time. As far as the deal itself goes, I’m floored the Jazz got five picks out of it (in addition to the pick from yesterday’s Brooklyn trade). Trader Danny is not messing around, and I’m here for it. I absolutely love the haul and am thrilled to have a wealth of assets now, as opposed to the bare cupboard they entered the off-season with. There’s very likely more moves to come as well, so here we go.
  16. You hit the nail right on the head. The intent was definitely good and I’m one of those Jazz fans that felt something needed to change, so I was completely on board with the general idea of a rebrand. Problem is, ownership’s idea of what said rebrand should be was a horrific idea. They not only swung hard and missed on a fastball down the middle, but they fell right in the dirt and flung the bat into the second row.
  17. So, Will Hardy is the new coach of the Jazz. I really like the hire. Sure, he’s 34, but his experience is actually pretty impressive for his age. He worked closely with Popovich in San Antonio, seemed to be a vital part of the Celtics’ success this past year, and I think the Jazz really needed a fresh perspective and voice that has experienced success like that. Plus, the more I thought about it over the last couple of weeks, the more I realized a younger coach was probably the right way to go. They needed someone who wasn’t a bridge guy (like Stotts may have been) that could see a potential rebuild through and grow with it if the Jazz mashed the eject button on Gobert and Mitchell anytime soon. Time will tell of course, but for now I’m excited by the hire. Of course I’m still tempering my expectations for the team as a whole, but I like what he can bring to the team regardless of the direction they take in the near future.
  18. I think that’s an upgrade, but the bear also looks like he just stepped on a Lego. Also, why is there two different “BROWN” word marks? The one in the Before/After and the one in the graphics below have different “W”s and different tracking. That’s weird.
  19. One of the Salt Lake Tribune’s beat writers spoke on a local show recently about how he was hearing the Jazz were trying to get permission to wear the purple throwbacks in as many games as possible, and wear the yellow jerseys specifically in as few games as possible. If (big IF) that’s true, the throwbacks may not be “THE primary” per se but it’s certainly going to be treated much more than an alternate. It would check out too with how much the Jazz are pushing purple over everything else.
  20. England definitely looks a bit more orange-ish than they should (especially against Netherlands of all teams)….but I have to say, I LOVE Netherlands’ De Stijl inspired kit. I’d definitely put more blame on England here.
  21. To be honest, even as much as the Nuggets have changed, I’m still envious of the fact that they’ve always worn some form of the same color (blue). Sure, the shades and tints have shifted, but at least Nuggets fans can hang thier hat on the fact that they’ve always been a “blue team” of some sort. That may seem like a stretch to consider a blue musical chairs a small brand victory, but as a Jazz fan I’d be thrilled if we could have a consistent thread like that. As much as I think the Jazz ought to be a purple team, they’ve wanted to be nearly everything else over too long a period of time, and there’s precious little to hang a hat on in terms of brand equity as a Jazz fan.
  22. Well, these are mascots we’re talking about. Half the mascots in sports are afield to some degree. Gorillas aren’t local to Phoenix, so far as I know. And whatever Gritty is supposed to be looks like he’d be much more local to Sesame Street than Philadelphia. I don’t know. I mean I get it, but I don’t think mascots are meant to be taken that seriously. That the legend of Yetis aren’t a Colorado thing doesn’t bother me all that bad; especially when you really can make a valid connection to the name, which is more than can be said for a few other mascots out there.
  23. I never minded the Yeti mascot or the Yeti foot. In fact, I really liked them. Even though Yetis are related more to the Himalayas and not the Rockies, I still get the connection they were going for. A snowy mountain creature didn’t ever seem that too far fetched for a team named the Avalanche to use.
  24. With the draft nearing, as well as a couple of head coach openings to fill and the Finals having wrapped up, I figured the NBA offseason thread may as well start. Utah had been the only coaching opening left today until Kenny Atkinson backed out of his agreement with the Hornets, re-opening that job: Meanwhile in Utah, a report from Emiliano Carchia (Sportando) indicated the Jazz had narrowed down thier finalists: …but local writers and radio here indicate the Jazz aren’t that far along yet and likely won’t narrow to final candidates until early this coming week, so we’ll see which ends up being true. FWIW, Tony Jones (Jazz beat writer) seemed to indicate Terry Stotts was still in the running for the Jazz job for now, which would contradict the Carchia report. Anyways, could be an interesting week leading up to the draft for coaching hires. Utah seems to be content taking its time and may not hire before the draft, whereas Charlotte now has to turn to a plan B with days to go.
  25. I wonder how much of this is coming down to different interpretations of the reveal’s language. Specifically, there’s the part that revealed next season’s city and classic uniforms, followed by the year ticker going from 2024 upwards, indicating purple would be worn in some form indefinitely. I personally took that to mean the city and/or classic uniform would be purple every year, but others seem to be interpreting that to mean purple will be primary after 2024. Honestly, I’m not sure which one is right at this point, especially with some indications (even from the Salt Lake Tribune) that the Jazz truly are in damage control mode over this. 2024 looks like it’ll be an interesting, telling year.
