  1. Okay, fair enough. It felt like as time went on, though, that MU did give way to Mizzou if not in the athletic department's marketing then certainly in the public opinion.
  2. I don't think I've heard many, if any, refer to the University of Missouri as MU. Mizzou on the other hand...... KU I've heard all the time and Kansas State is almost always referred to as K-State. And on that note, no one under the age of 70 or pandering politicians pronounces Missouri as "Missouruh".
  3. It wouldn't shock me all things considered what with the NFC turning into the AFC of the 80s and 90s. Would be hilarious if the NFL's Opening Night game winds up being the Super Bowl.
  4. As a Mizzou fan, I completely agree that they shouldn’t have left. But the Longhorn Network was the final straw in a long line of Texas acting like it owned the whole conference and that just wasn’t going to do it anymore. And money, of course money. Really, the first mistake was letting in the refugees from the Southwest Conference or at the very least, not treating the University of Texas-Austin like post WWI Germany. Still, the Longhorns and the University of Texas Athletic Department.
  5. Typically it’s the teams that are fly-by-night operations in arena football, not the league itself. Also, really looking forward to seeing the Goats. Found my old Brigade jersey too!
  6. Warren Moon as a Kansas City Chief And for an additional bit of weirdness, Mike Vrabel as a Chief in those Texans uniforms they wore in 2009. They were playing the Cowboys and I believe this was Miles Austin’s breakout game too. And this is Larry Johnson carrying the ball in that same game in one of his last games as a Chief. Guy got hit in the head so many times he believes in QAnon now.
  7. Same energy as the janitor demanding better treatment or they'll leave. There are a lot of unemployed former college football players who could put on a set of pads and run for 800 yards. It's not the 90s anymore
  8. Uh-huh. Listen, I don’t know what shoes you’re wearing but I think these will fit you just fine
  9. I think the typical result for a team featured on Hard Knocks is more likely. As in, I think this Jets team is going to be the biggest bust of an opening act Broadway has seen since Turn Off The Dark.
  10. USFL Championship Game drew 1,157,000 viewers.
  11. From MLE to TLC: How Food Devoured Me by Fatass McGee seems like an appropriate title for a hypothetical tell-all.
  12. Yeah, and in an ideal scenario, the company in question would adapt to the times, the guys in charge would tighten their belts too after making a bunch of people unemployed before a holiday and, oh yeah, not be a bunch of out of touch dolts. This is clearly not the case with ESPN.
  13. ESPN, or the TV channel anyways, is obsolete now that the average person can access sports highlights anytime and anywhere in the palm of their hand. It’s not the era where a person would have to wait until :28 or :58 of the hour to get scores and stats but ESPN’s business model hasn’t caught up. Does it suck that a lot of people lost their job? Yeah, it does. But it’s like amputating a rotting leg to save the rest of the body. Sometimes sacrifices have to be made to preserve the whole. Of course, this would also assume that whatever caused the rot in the first place is stopped and the course is changed. Otherwise? A bunch of people just lost their job for nothing and that’s what I think will wind up being the case.
  14. Moving the team to a cow pasture like Charlie O’Finley threatened to do with the A’s would be a better strategy than the status quo for the Yotes.
  15. A spring football league not thinking beyond this year is something I did not see coming at all.
  16. That's the first problem. You're assuming anyone involved in this saga is capable of shame.
  17. I’m definitely going to need to make a road trip Wait: “Burgess says he’s lived in the Springfield area his entire life and believes it is the best place to live, work and play. Burgess also believes his model of arena football will prevail due to one certain characteristic. ‘We’ve got good Christian values to keep us going,’ he said.” I’m going, but I’m holding onto my wallet and never allowing it to leave my grip. Also have to wonder if the fish mascot is representing more than just the fishing culture there. It’s like my Dad always told me “Never deal with businesses that talk about how Christian they are because they always hide behind the fish when things go south”. Just to clarify, I’m not some unwashed fedoratipping bunghole with hairy sequoias sprouting from my neck ranting about “Sky Daddies”, I do believe in God. I just don’t like people trying to leverage my values for personal gain.
  18. So instead of turning left for hours, the speedway will now get a team going nowhere for hours.
  19. They knew they were going to lose millions. They’d be stupid if they didn’t. Every indication is that there will be a 2024 season barring some kind of black swan event bankrupting the backers.
  20. No one wants to watch a sport if there is a widespread (i.e. not some low-budget horsehockey YouTube video about how the NFL is rigged) perception that the players are on the take. They get money from the league from ludomaniacs via revenue sharing as it is so trying to win money from gambling is like dipping into the cookie jar after eating a whole pack of Oreos. Plus, you don't make examples of players because you think you can catch everyone. You make examples out of players so that the rest understand that if they get caught there WILL be punishment. It's not the harshness of punishment that's a deterrent. It's the certainty of it.
  21. Just means that he’s a pervert and the most unbelievable part about his whole story is that he’d wait 3 hours for a cupcake. Then again, maybe we should have seen perversion coming from a guy who named his handle after a sex act and his weight.
  22. Did Gary Bettman kill a hooker in Arizona? That’s the only explanation I have for why he’s kept the team there because anyone doing it for pride would’ve checked out before a quarter century hit.
  23. I'm pretty sure this is nothing, but IMO, an NHL team has a better shot at long-term success than an NBA team does. If the NBA team sucks, people can go to Lawrence, Manhattan or Columbia to watch good basketball. Not so much with an NHL team. Plus, there's the whole in-state rivalry with St. Louis but, again, I'm pretty sure that Patrick Mahomes is :censored:posting. Also, let me highlight this
