  1. So Zach Wilson banged his wack-job mom's best friend, and the internet is having a field day. https://clutchpoints.com/jets-rumors-nfl-fans-react-to-zach-wilson-reportedly-sleeping-with-moms-friend/
  2. The Patriots jersey can't be considered good as long as it has the unnecessary gray outline around the numbers. Being the only gray on the jersey, it makes the numbers look like they were just brought over from the last set without any thought. I'm not one that requires 100% consistency across the board, but in this case, since it reduces the width of the red (or navy) stroke, it's glaring and should be fixed by either incorporating gray into the sleeve stripes, or eliminating it from the numbers.
  3. How do players simply forget how to play baseball? Nick Castellanos might be the absolute worst hitter I've ever seen. At this point, he doesn't even give competitive at-bats - just flails at pitches the bounce before the plate, or are a full foot outside the zone. We knew his defense was bad, but he was supposed to be a DH so I'm not even complaining about that. Is it small market / low pressure vs big market / high pressure? That's the only thing I can think of, because he definitely knows how to be a good hitter, but my gods he's been unwatchable this entire season. You'd swear he never even held a bat before.
  4. Yeah it looked like he was just motioning for another sign or to run through the signs again (I assume they use the same hand motions even if using the new electronic sign thing). Certainly seems like a case of the umpire wanting to be a superstar and get involved, rather than letting the players decide the game. Here's a surprisingly mature reaction from the pitcher, explaining what he was doing and what he assumes the umpire thought he saw.
  5. Yep. Eagles haven't done WAH in years. I went back 4 seasons in GUD and couldn't find an instance. I'd bet it's probably back to the Andy Reid era that they've done it. I'd bet the farm they're in a dark jersey for this game. Seems early in the season for the all black, but can't rule it out.
  6. The Eagles have 100% control and sign off on everything.
  7. I'd be surprised if the Eagles wanted them on their field, even though I'm pretty sure they re-sod before camp starts. I know they do other non-field-friendly events in the summer, but this just doesn't seem like the kind of thing they'd get on board with. Even with tarp, it'd look bad to be in such a large stadium with the type of crowds that they'd draw at first. It would probably look worse than a Temple game. Franklin Field, if they can work around the other events, would get my vote. It's not necessarily suburbs friendly due to parking, but given the size of the crowds at first, it'd be fine. It's also the only place i'd go to see them, since there's so much else to do around there vs going to the Linc, where after the game you just get on the subway to go home. If they overgrow Franklin Field, then we can talk about the Linc... or maybe by then (if the league survives enough years) Temple will have their own field, though those plans aren't promising. I can't see people being behind this, other than families with little kids that want to take them to football, but not in the war zone that is the Linc. So many people in the area are down the shore or up in the Poconos every weekend once Memorial Day hits, and there's no local connection - at least to me, it just seems like a product that they slapped a Philadelphia sticker on the side of, as opposed to anything with any kind of local connection. They can get there, but it would take a lot of work to ingratiate themselves to the community. @infrared41 said that he encountered people from Philadelphia that made the trek down to Alabama for the championship game, and that blows my mind, as I wouldn't bet that 19 out of 20 people here have even heard of this team. I believe him and take his word for it, but it just really surprises me. Maybe they worked it into part of a larger trip and were like "hey, why not make a pit stop in Alabama and see this game", I'm struggling to wrap my head around that. I hope this succeeds, as more football is better than less football, but we'll need at least a year in the home cities before really being able to judge.
  8. Maybe the consensus has cooled, but I haven't. I still think it's a great concept (even if there's tweaks I'd make) and I don't see how purple and green clash. Subjectively, maybe people just don't like the combination, and that's fine, but I don't see how they "clash". IMO it's a great combination, even though I think they could have executed it a little better.
  9. Philadelphia is going to be an issue if they want to draw anyone from the city, as the only option I can think of is Penn's Franklin Field, and Penn-hosted events, like the Penn Relays, would take priority over anything USFL, which could make scheduling tough. Lincoln Financial Field is a non-starter. If they think their target audience would be strictly suburbanites, then Villanova field (maybe - I don't know if any sprint sports like lacrosse are played there) or maybe the Union's field, which again would have conflicts, and is in a crappy area that people probably wouldn't want to go for to see something like a USFL game. Also not sure how the Union would feel about the grass being torn up.
  10. I can’t unsee the rabbit!
  11. Doesn't the Rose bowl usually have the Pac10 champ vs the B1G champ unless it's a playoff game or either of those teams are in the CFP? Given the lack of marquee programs in the Pac# after USC/UCLA leave, would the Rose Bowl still want that deal? Forgive me for my lack of CFB knowledge, but I assume Oregon would be the presumptive favorite in the league every year (unless it bolts too.) Obviously Oregon has been in the Rose Bowl plenty of times so it's not like it would be any kind of drop off, but if the prestige of the conference as a whole is as low as I'm reading that it will be, is it possible (if not likely) that the Rose Bowl would want a deal with another conference (not that there's many to choose from anymore.)
  12. Seems like we're headed towards an AFC and NFC (or AFL/NFL, AL / NL) type situation, where there's B1G East/Central/West, a SEC with divisions, and maybe one other super league, with the others essentially being minor leagues. Maybe the leagues get big enough that each "division" is some reasonable replication of the teams' former conference. The B1G map is reminiscent of the NL map after the Giants and Dodgers relocated. Do "conferences" matter outside of athletics, or are they strictly "athletic conferences" and don't necessarily have any bearing on any academic partnerships?
  13. I just read that whole story - it's wild! I can't believe that's what happened to that floor.
  14. Moving up roster expansion doesn't do anybody any good. Nobody makes more money, all it would do is take playing time away from players who need regular MiLB playing time. Permanent roster expansion to something like 30 would be mandatory to make up for the 100 lost jobs.
  15. The only way the discussion even starts is if teams agree to expand rosters by 1 to make up for the lost team, and the combined team would probably have to agree to some payroll floor clause so that there's at least the same amount of $ going to the same # of players league-wide post merge. I'm pretty opposed to expanded rosters, especially now with universal DH, but it may be a better alternative to having two teams like this. It would probably be better if they could fold 4 into 2, rather than 2 into 1.
  16. Colorado’s are very nice - probably the cream of the crop - and the Astros would work for me if it said either the team or city name on it (and if contrasting belt was mandatory). KC’s are boring, but inoffensive (which is probably the best you can hope for when it comes to these things). Miami’s are excellent, though I wonder how I’d feel if I wasn’t comparing them to the trash they wear on a nightly basis. In comparison to the black on black they usually wear, almost any alternative would shine. I’m with you on your other opinions though. Even though I’m a monochrome fan, the Los Dodgers and Wrigleyville unis can burn.
  17. IMO That doesn’t work. The head was never designed to be integrated into a full bird, and I’m not sure there’s a great way to make it happen with looking even more forced than that. also in the digital age, a logo that’s scaled like that wouldn’t work well in a lot of applications. It would End up being reduced so much that it would be unusable on social media and TV, and only be usable as a sleeve patch (which may be the only intent anyway).
  18. I don’t think the sixers have picks since they traded so many to the Nets already. But I don’t follow that closely, just going by what I hear when I listen to sports radio. KD was praising Embiid during the season, and again said how much he respects him just the other day, which is leading people to be like “OMG KD is going to force his way to Philly!!” Which is kinda ridiculous. Not that it can’t happen, but it doesn’t seem the same as the Harden thing.
  19. Thats a fair point, but I’m against stadiums that aren’t accessible via public mass transit, so unless there’s a subway or street car line built (which is challenging without streets), I still can’t support the idea of a Moon team. Maybe in a year all these things will be worked out.
  20. The moon has a population of 0, so it's unlikely the stadium would be filled, and local broadcast rights would be around 0, give or take 0. Even if the technology exited to put an American League team on the moon and have it not take a week to get to New York for a series with the Yankees, it wouldn't be a sound business decision. Let's get London done before we tackle the moon.
  21. While I don't understand the absurdities of the NBA salary cap - a system that makes a contract more valuable than a player - according to local guys, the Sixers could make that deal work with something like Tobias Harris, Tyreese Maxey (who some dummy locals deem untradable for some reason - even for a HOFer!) some other jabroni. What do you mean "could barely keep their guys together"?
  22. I hadn't ever thought of that, but it's not the worst argument I've ever heard. The thing is, the batting team would never accept the auto walk, as they'd certainly want the pitcher to add 4 pitches to his pitch count, which would defeat the purpose of the rule. Also, the pitcher could just plunk the batter out of spite.
