To be fair to the Padres, it's not like they had much of an offense last season. You can't fall past 30th in offense, which is where they were last season. As long as their pitching fares like they did in 2014, they'll be better.

Did they make up 17 games on the Dodgers? Probably not.

The 11 games on the Wild Card teams? Hey, I'll buy that.

The Padres were already flawed on offense last season. It's not like their offseason acquisitions can be worse.

Padres had an exciting offseason for sure and the starting rotation looks good but I wonder how much that defence will cost them. Great to have good pitching but if the defence is costing them runs thats still a shaky team.

Since all of the major dominoes have fallen, I'm going to post some predictions:

AL

EAST

1. Toronto (91-71)

2. Boston (87-74)*

3. Baltimore (84-78)

4. NY Yankees (80-82)

5. Tampa Bay (74-88)

CENTRAL

1. Cleveland (90-72)

2. Detroit (85-77)

3. Kansas City (82-80)

4. Chicago (82-80)

5. Minnesota (74-88)

WEST

1. Seattle (97-65)

2. LA Angels (93-79)*

3. Houston (83-79)

4. Oakland (81-81)

5. Texas (77-85)

NL

EAST

1. Washington (98-64)

2. NY Mets (90-72)*

3. Miami (85-77)

4. Atlanta (71-91)

5. Philadelphia (68-94)

CENTRAL

1. Pittsburgh (91-71)

2. St. Louis (89-73)*

3. Chicago Cubs (84-78)

4. Milwaukee (79-83)

5. Cincinnati (74-88)

WEST

1. LA Dodgers (101-61)

2. San Francisco (87-75)

3. San Diego (84-78)

4. Colorado (75-87)

5. Arizona (70-92)

PLAYOFFS-

AL-

WC- LA Angels over Boston

ALDS- Seattle over LA Angels; Cleveland over Toronto

ALCS- Seattle over Cleveland

NL-

WC- St. Louis over NY Mets

NLDS- LA Dodgers over St. Louis; Pittsburgh over Washington

NLCS- LA Dodgers over Pittsburgh

WS- LA Dodgers over Seattle

Normally, I'd pick Detroit to take the Central, but Cleveland has had the makings of a dark-horse for 3 seasons now and I think they rise up and take the division. They could honestly win the WS, but...it's Cleveland. I also think Boston and the Angels have the slight edge when it comes to the wild card, although I hope I'm wrong.

I predict that the Tigers run away with the AL Central. They'll face the Nationals in the World Series, where they light up Max $cherzer for 11 runs in Game 4 to sweep Washington and win the 2015 World Series.

Well I've picked the Tigers to win for the past 4 years now, so I'm hoping for some sort of reverse jinx.

The Phillies will lose 110 games - possibly 120 if/when they unload Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels.

Let's be realistic here, the White Sox will go 162-0 and win the Fall Classic.

Stop it, you need to let this Scherzer thing go.

Ok, one more joke. Like he'll let the fastball go right down the middle of the plate to Miguel Cabrera? Alright, I'm done and satisfied now. ;)

Poor Gonzalez Germen:

-designated for assignment by the Mets on December 15.

-traded by the Mets to the Yankees for cash on December 19.

-designated for assignment by the Yankees on January 13.

-traded by the Yankees to the Rangers for cash on January 20.

-designated for assignment by the Rangers on January 21.

-claimed off waivers by the Cubs on January 23.

-designated for assignment by the Cubs on February 4.

It looks like the Odyssey of Gonzalez Germen has ended for now. He cleared waivers and was outrighted to AAA Iowa and will be a non-roster Spring Training invitee for the Cubs.
