The team moves into a Buffalo Wild Wings in Chandler, the Coyotes defense force lectures us on how this is just a temporary situation and a much better alternative to drawing 10,000 a night in Halifax or Moncton, Gary Bettman continues making BS PR statements while trembling like a pool chair during an earthquake, rinse/repeat until they run out of Phoenix-area warehouses. I don't see any reason why residents would vote no. It's a completely privately funded project that will create jobs, bring in world class entertainment, and provide public facilities for the community. Even if you aren't a hockey fan, that's a pretty good deal. If for some reason they don't win the vote, that's when the relocation talk will go from twitter/reddit/message board hyperbole to actual reality. Thats true however the Phoenix area already has Footprint Center, Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Chase Field, State Farm Stadium, Desert Diamond Arena, Sun Devil Stadium, Desert Financial Arena, Mullett Arena, Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex, Phoenix Raceway, not to mention the many spring training ballparks. Do they really need another arena for sports and concerts? 4 Quote Signature intentionally left blank

I think you meant "I don't see any reason why redditors would vote no." That's a common mistake to make when we talk about the Coyotes and their meme fans. I'm actually sitting in a front-row seat to the "people who pay property taxes actually don't want extraneous sports venues for welfare queens" show right now. 4 Quote ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

If you want concert or sporting events in Tempe, they already have the venues to do so. The NHL failed in Phoenix and Glendale and are gonna fail in Tempe too. Might as well put arenas in Mesa, Chandler, Peoria, Scottsdale, Surprise and every Phoenix suburb to see if the Coyotes can fail there too. 3 Quote Signature intentionally left blank

Do they really need another arena for sports and concerts? Well the Phoenix metro is the 10th largest in country with almost 5 million people, they can handle another arena. And I doubt ASU is hosting a lot of other events at their venues besides their own athletics anyway. Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum is 60 years old. Phoenix Rising's stadium is a bunch of temporary bleachers. Cardinals and D-Backs stadiums hold a totally different scale of an event, same with the race track. The only competition would be the Suns arena and their old arena in Glendale. The Glendale arena will be third on the pecking order since its on the outskirts of town and if I'm holding an event I'd rather do it in the brand new arena closer to Tempe and Scottsdale then the older one in downtown. 1
The_Admiral
Can Hartford support the Whalers? Heckin' no-arino, there are too many teams close by Can Tempe support a second arena in addition to all the other Phoenix-area venues? Sure! it'll be nice! 2 2 Quote ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

LMU
Let’s also not discount that the Phoenix metropolitan area is hemorrhaging with outdoor venues that need to book events outside the months of February and March.
