"They're going to sell out every game because now they play down the street from all their fans" all their fans are redditors who work in call centers, which is all anyone seems to do in Phoenix, they couldn't all afford triple-digit seats even if the Coyotes played right in their Chandler apartment complexes that never even have their swimming pools open

I gotta say, that’s an incredible looking arena for ASU hockey. Shows a ton of progress for that program in a really short amount of time. That’s pretty cool. Continues on the tradition of ASU housing the county’s dysfunctional pro sports teams in their basement. Very Phoenix kinda thing.

"you're closer to the action"

You're the same distance from the action that you would be in the same spot in an NHL arena, there are just fewer opportunities to be farther from the action. Oh, well, I guess I'm just impressed that they found people to interview who weren't like "this is new arena is heckin' epic whiskey bacon, this was a thing that happened, Slava Ukraini"

Honestly, if I were a player on the Coyotes, I'd rather play in a packed barn of 5,000 than in front of 13,000 empty seats every night. With the building being filled with fans who care enough to show up, I bet the energy is pretty electric, too.

If I was a player on the Roadrunners getting called up to the Coyotes, I'd feel let down that I'm now playing in a smaller building in the "big leagues" than I was down on the farm in Tucson.

Yeah like... most AHL teams have better facilities.

I guess a locker room that's worse then some local rink communal locker rooms is acceptable if it means Quebec can't have a team though.

Laval Rocket have a larger attendance and more seats. And that's just a suburb of Montreal.

The League though is banking that buck with Arizona TV network money, even though the ratings are weak as usual.

The team had to reduce tickets prices though because they risk struggling to fill those 5000 seats. If they have to go out of their way to try to fill half of a regular arena, the enthusiasm for the Coyotes isn't all that great.

I want someone to crash into the pipe-and-drapes and have it all come crashing down like some Peter Sellers bit.

How well do you think those metal lockers are anchored to the floor? I don't know how big of a deal it is to drill into the concrete there, considering it's supposed to be a rink.

I have a feeling the team that got evicted for not paying vendors didn't get quality workmanship. Two teammates are going to fight over unsanctioned wife-sharing and the whole thing will come crashing down like an Arrested Development house.

One of my buddies from ASU works as a cameraman for whatever network broadcasts the Coyotes games (I think it’s Bally Sports now, but it was something different up until this year) and he was given a few tickets to pass out to people he knew. Nobody wanted them 😂
