Almost eight years to the day the Sonics skipped town for OKC. Without KD, OKC won't be winning any championships any time soon. Good. I will remind you that the other ownership group trying to buy the Sonics were going to take them to San Jose immediately. Bennett actually gave Seattle a chance to build a stadium. DG_ThenNowForever
No. Because the Lakers and Clippers aren't as good or as unlikable as the Warriors at this time in 2016. That should be obvious, I think. Also, Westbrook isn't as good as Durant. The post-Durant/Westbrook Thunder are going to be VERY interesting. The Thunder were bad their first year in OKC, but they had new franchise sheen that kept them relevant to the city. Presti is a good GM, but OKC is now, clearly, not a free agent destination, so is only hope is to build through trades and drafts. The Warriors did that, so it's not impossible, but that approach is just as likely to lead to years in the wilderness as much as playoff seasons. I'd like to see how OKC supports a 20-win team year after year. But the days of penciling in a healthy OKC team to a top three seed are over. The West is now GS/San Antonio and a bunch of flawed teams. You can't fault Durant for wanting to win, but you can fault him for making basketball a little less fun for everyone else. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags

This is the first I've heard about moving a team to San Jose, but I doubt the NBA would bless a move to a market that already includes Sacramento and Golden State (and if they're not the same market, maybe someone can explain the shifting allegiances to those teams based on who's good at the moment). In any event, Bennett was looking for a free arena, about 10 years after the region paid for a renovation to the Key that was supposed to guarantee the Sonics remaining in Seattle for good. And the region had just paid for Safeco and the Seahawks stadium. Context matters. Not going to go into too much details, but I was a fly on the wall with conversations between city leaders and Bennett's team. They were floating options for a new arena. But the options were clearly bull :censored:; I have the handouts in my office that show they rely on almost 100% public financing, which, again, the city wasn't going to do. So no, Bennett never gave Seattle a chance. DG_ThenNowForever
It is interesting though - the Warriors need to dump players to make room for Durant. What if no one takes them? Who's Bogut helping in 2016, or at least relative to helping someone else? 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags
FiddySicks
So, how exactly does the luxury tax thing work? Could the Watriors just concievably keep Bogut and just pay the extra tax, or is there more of a restriction than that? And if a deal makes sense, I'm sure NBA execs will let the sour grapes act slide (fans never will, but that's how it goes) and will pull the trigger. They're already over the cap, so they must be under the cap to sign UFAs like Durant. Renouncing rights to their own free agents remove what's called a "cap hold".
