What qualifies as a "moment" to you? Because to me, dominant performances and clutch shots on the big stage are "moments," and Duncan has plenty of those on his resume.

I didn't say Duncan is the for-sure GOAT, but he definitely belongs in the conversation.

What is a moment? Magic's baby-hook. Jordan's push-off. LeBron's block.

Duncan had a triple-double against the Nets? That's his moment? Okayyyy...

And now for the THIRD TIME... Duncan was an all-time great. But when comparing his accomplishments and legacy side-by-side with Michael, he's instantly written off. No conversation. No GOAT!

You mean his "moment" when he changed the game forever because he broke his leg during a collision at home plate - thus making baseball more and more soft and boring to watch?

There's a 2016 NBA summerball thread somewhere.

I doubt Durant leaves. I'd expect him to stay one more year with Westbrook, and then the two of them head to LA next off season. Stranger things have happened though.

Simmons can't shoot. No one on the Sixers can shoot. Of course he'd end up there. I don't care if Hinkie is gone; the Sixers are still garbage and should be forced to take a season off.

I'm excited to see who takes Richard Jefferson's money on the Cavs.

I'm also excited to see what the Spurs have left after this off-season. They won LMA last year, and he was very good for them, but they have to figure out how to replace Parker and Ginobli. Good luck to them.

I agree that the Sixers are garbage,  with a 10-72 win loss record they shouldn't even be in the d league

I can never have sympathy for Oklahoma City for obvious reasons, but it's still hard to feel good about this one. Now we have to deal with the NBA know-it-alls laughing about the angry rubes who are mad that their team's best player left when they should be appreciating greatness.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

There was no argument to be made. Your @willmorrisattempt on Buster Posey's homeplate collision was trash.

Sorry that's the only thing he will be remembered for once he retires. #ThePoseyRule

Another comparison is the Shaq/Kobe Lakers signing Payton and Malone, though as I recall, those two signed for veteran minimums, or close to it. The max contract/cap situation is all messed up this season (and next), and we're clearly headed for a labor crisis in the not-too-distant future. However, I do think these Warriors are perhaps more analogous to the 2014 Seahawks being able sign so many of their guys because Russell Wilson was on such a team-friendly contract.

I'm not really looking for a literal comparison, so much as its pointing out that if the NBA were actually serious about maintaining competitive balance, a move like this would never happen.

I think most fans want to see a league where teams build through the draft and find plug ins through free agency. The NBA might be the one league where it may actually easier to win if you look to free agency to build the foundation of your roster and view the draft as a place where you fill in the missing pieces.

It sounds ass backwards, but in a league where LeBron James is arguably the most underpaid player, it makes perfect sense that the most undervalued commodity in the NBA is a true franchise player.

Stock pile all the picks you want. If I can go out and sign the guy you're hoping one of these picks turns into, it doesen't matter. That's why for all of Sam Hinkie's planning through the draft the Sixers kept getting steamrolled by teams who were active in the free agent market.

Durant is a coward. Time for people to stop bashing LeBron for The Decision, because that was nothing compared to this. LeBron was all on his own in Cleveland and left for a Miami team that found itself in mediocrity after 2006. The Big Three was never anywhere near as dominant as advertised, and LeBron ended up carrying them through the playoffs anyway. In contrast, Durant left a contender for a 73-win team that he just choked against a couple weeks ago. Short of what Kobe, Elway, Eli and Lindros pulled on draft day, it's hard to imagine a bigger bitch move in sports history.

LeBron is still the bigger douche because he made a TV special announcing his free agency destination. (Sure, blame ESPN and whomever else all you want, but ultimately LeBron agreed to do it...so he's equally to blame.)  LeBron also cemented his douche status by announcing his next move via Sports Illustrated.  Dude is an attention whore.

It is pretty lame that Durant chose the Warriors, but free agents generally make their decisions for at least one of two reasons: money and championship possibility.  He's making plenty of coin, so now he wants some jewelry.  Put ourselves in a similar situation....we're all taking that job that pays well and gives us the best chance to succeed at what we do.

Plus, this is the NBA era we live in now.....everyone's buddy-buddy with each other.

I hate the fact that the Thunder left Seattle but I hate the bay area teams more than anywhere else in the us combined, so this move has made NBA completely unwatchable for me. So unless KD pulls a DeAndre Jordan and suddenly changes his mind I'll be done with basketball till the Warriors blow up or the Lakers get good again whatever happens first. So :censored: you Kevin Durant you ruined my favorite sport, I hope you get demolished by LeBron every single year you're in GS for what you did, you're the biggest hypocrite and scumbag in the league.

At this point, why doesn't the NBA abandon the conferences and just split the league into two leagues: Competitive and Non-Competitive? 15 teams in each league. The two worst teams from the Competitive league are moved to the Non-Competitive league for the following season and the two best NC team are moved up. I'd enjoy watching that then lopsided blowouts.

Sure can't wait for the Golden State Warriors vs. Milwaukee Bucks. so 120-64? Sounds about right

Food for thought - what IF Kevin Durant plays one year in GS and wins a Title? Opts out and returns to OKC? How would fans perceive him? Looking for Thunder fans to comment on this one...

Hedley pretty much said what I had to say about Durant's decision... he wants a title badly. I think he's the best player around without a championship. He went to the best place where he could win one... remember, Golden State was a win away from being a repeat champion. Part of me likes to think that if they won, this move probably doesn't happen.

I can see how fans of the Thunder are upset... dude has been the franchise player since the team came to Oklahoma City.

If he came back after a year or two, I'd forgive him.

The problem is that he won't come back.

These types of reactions (especially coming from Lakers fans) are my absolute favorite part of this whole thing.
