MDGP
The Warriors had better hope that Curry's ankle problems and Durant's foot issues don't flare up again, because that bench is not going to be good next year. I've got a dribbble, check it out if you like my stuff; alternatively, if you hate my stuff, send it to your enemies to punish their insolence! DarkJourney
Maybe Durant actually likes Steph, Klay and Draymond. Who knows. I'm no psychologist but we really don't know his relationship with Westbrook or the Thunder. That phone call from Jerry West might have turned the tide much like he did with Shaq. Joe Lacob is wealthy and arrogant but he has two pretty smart guys in Bob Myers and Steve Kerr running the show. I think they know what they're doing. The main goal is to win titles not to make sure that rest of America hates you or loves you. Go Warriors.

I wonder how he feels about his team continuing to not make him whole. Not sure, although his endorsement income probably takes some of the sting out from that. CS85
Ring chasing is a historical recurrence in the NBA for at least 20+ years now, but LeBron winning this year I would've hoped sent a message that winning the way YOU want to win is infinitely more satisfying and rewarding than winning via coordinated all-star rosters. Durant is probably going to win at least 1 title as a Warrior but his portrait is already being painted as a carpetbagger. Quote "You are nothing more than a small cancer on this message board. DG_ThenNowForever
By the way, the Cavs have a $54M luxury tax bill and had the highest-paid roster in the league. It was mostly because LBJ is really generous with other peoples' money, but it's not like they've got some huge disadvantage (outside of being in Cleveland). There has been some noise that Nike pushed Durant to Golden State to take some of the shine off of Curry and Under Armor. Some of those guys take their shoe branding incredibly loyally, so there may be some truth to that, however small an amount. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags

They don't have to do that when Warriorwagoners everywhere can take care of that for them on social media.
pmoehrin
This would be almost like if the Bulls at the end of the '96 season decided to bolster their inside game by signing Shaq. I think it's pretty obvious to see how the cap's growth outpacing the max contact growth has thrown the economics of the NBA totally out of whack. The very system that was designed to prevent the NBA from turning into a league where only 3-4 teams actually matter is now enabling it.

Another comparison is the Shaq/Kobe Lakers signing Payton and Malone, though as I recall, those two signed for veteran minimums, or close to it. The max contract/cap situation is all messed up this season (and next), and we're clearly headed for a labor crisis in the not-too-distant future. However, I do think these Warriors are perhaps more analogous to the 2014 Seahawks being able sign so many of their guys because Russell Wilson was on such a team-friendly contract. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags

What the league has evolved into now is super fun if you're a fan of said 3-4 teams. It's grating if you aren't. There's just very little entertainment factor to it as a whole anymore, and for me at least, there hasn't been in a solid few years. I mean, I'm a huge Parks and Rec fan. The hunting episode where Ron gets shot may be to me the funniest and best episode in the whole series. But even I can only watch it on replay maybe upwards of 2-3 times before I'm done with it for a while. No matter how "great" these superteams may be, there comes a point where fans like me are going to clock out. People wonder why I watch a whole lot more Hockey come May-June than basketball. If it weren't for the Jazz, I'd probably be done with this league altogether.

I've heard stories that Nike was pushing Durant to relocate to boost shoe sales, but I thought they'd rather him not go to GS because he would be playing second fiddle to UA's Curry. Nike also cut the price of the new KD9 by $30 from $180 to $150.
Uglybus
This sucks. This sucks. THIS SUCKS!!! Thanks Durant. We were so close to winning, and you go to Golden State? THE TEAM THAT BEAT US IN THE PLAYOFFS LAST YEAR??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Golden State won't care for you the same way Oklahoma did. They are still in to Curry. We freakin loved you, KD. We raised you, we taught you how to play the game, and we all supported you. Now you want to "Be a man" and go somewhere else? Come on. That's not the reason. You want to win 8 championships in a row. You want to be a hypocrite and totally reverse your words about "Superteams". I know he's not coming back, either. He has no reason to. It's not like he grew up here or anything. This just sucks. I'm sorry for the rant. This is just awful news to wake up to. "Okay, Mr. OKC, you obviously have never been to Louisville." Cujo
Kevin Durant just went from being THE MAN to being the third option on a title contender that don't exactly NEED him. Dude just became Kevin Love.

Josh.0
As far as I'm concerned I'd be cheering in the streets of Seattle today. Almost eight years to the day the Sonics skipped town for OKC. Without KD, OKC won't be winning any championships any time soon. Good.
