not your fault, but I think we've reached the point where cities like OKC, Omaha, Portland, and Louisville are way too small scale for the NFL to target for expansion. People in Oklahoma still likely tune in to NFL games on sunday rooting on whoever they've chosen because they're general football fans.

The league is absolutely massive. I think if the NFL ever wants to expand, its to a place where pro football has no footprint and they can have a much bigger foothold in a market. I know London was included, but I think the NFL stands to make tons more money with a team in Paris, Mexico City, Madrid, or Sao Paulo compared to a mid sized city in a smaller importance state if that makes sense

Parc des Princes in Paris is allegedly going to be without a tenant (if you believe the president of PSG, which you probably shouldn't), great opportunity for the NFL to swoop in!

22 playoff teams, 11 per conference

Season format:

  • No more preseason except Hall of fame game. 20 games, 10 against the division, 6 games against another division in the conference, 1 game each against teams from the other two divisions depending on where you finish in the division, and 2 interconference games, one against a fixed opponent and another against a random opponent.
  • No more Thursday Night Football other than Opening Night and Thanksgiving (4 games, 1 each on FOX, CBS, NBC and CW). Late season Saturday football stays.

Postseason format:

  • 6 vs 11, 7 vs 10 and 8 vs 9 in the play in round, lowest seeded winner goes on the road to play #1 as usual, highest seeded winner plays #3. Top 5 seeds get a bye to the first round.
  • Super Bowl is now played in the 3rd Sunday of February.
  • Pro Bowl (which stays at 1 week before the Super Bowl) is back to a traditional 11 on 11 tackle football. Winning conference will earn a 5 million dollar bonus for the players and 5 million each for all 24 teams for a local charity.

Television & Streaming:

  • AFC Package: CBS & Paramount+ (1st selection of games) and NBC and Peacock (2nd selection)
  • NFC Package: FOX & Tubi (1st selection) and ABC & ESPN+ (2nd selection)
  • Sunday Night Football: NBC & Peacock

  • Saturday Night Football: TNT/MAX & NFL Network
  • NFL Sunday Ticket: Netflix
  • Super Bowl & Pro Bowl: ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and CW

*Nexstar+ is made up in this universe, it is the CW streamer, also Tubi becomes a DTC streamer like Espn+, Paramount+ and Peacock but keeps their FAST service

Here is how I would align the NBA if (a) the league expands to 32 teams and, as frequently rumored, puts those new franchises in the Las Vegas and Seattle markets; (b) the league reverts to two divisions per conference and uses the same names for divsions as when it last had two divisions in each conference; and (c) all of the existing teams stay in their current respective markets.

The Atlantic Division has 10, Metropolitan 8, Central 9 and the Pacific has 10, one being in Tijuana, Mexico. Nothing in his scenario makes any sense.

There's absolutely no chance that the Northeast Megapolis will add five new MLB teams 30 years from now. It's crazy to imagine having two (three?) teams in the Philadelphia area and two teams in Washington, DC!

Thunder would be based in the Meadowlands (and I admit it was named after the Trenton Thunder) so Philly stays at 2 🙂

You could 100% put an MLB team in New Jersey, but it would never go in Trenton.

Besides being the effective northeast border of the Philly metro area, Trenton is very isolated from the rest of the state. No major highway goes through the city. You have to take 95 and get off onto either 195 or 295. There's no other way of getting there by car unless you're already on 195, which means you're coming from the shore. You're an hour's drive from any international airport, and train service is limited to one station.

Any Jersey team would have to be based in or around Newark. You couldn't go any further west or south than where 287 runs.

Now thst makes sense to some degree. Does the Meadowlands have space for a baseball stadium?

The Meadowlands is just an undeveloped piece of land north of Newark.

You could easily build 3-4 MLB ballparks there, no problem if you wanted to. That's not the issue.

The issue with putting a ballpark in the Meadowlands is that there's nothing to do around there. You'd be coming for the game and going straight home as soon as it's over unless you want to check out that overpriced white elephant of a mall that finally opened after a decade. I wouldn't view that as a dealbreaker, but it's not what MLB teams want anymore. They want the ballpark to be connected to the surrounding area in some way. Not a standalone in a sea of parking like Kauffman Stadium, or Citi Field.

The problem is there's nothing on the North Jersey map that screams BUILD HERE!!!! There's always some kind of tradeoff between accessibility, the quality of the surrounding neighborhood, and the inherent issue of there being no geographic population center for that part of the state.

I don't expect ever to see a Jersey-based MLB team in my lifetime, but if they ever came, my advice for a ballpark location would be to build wherever you can.

Green Bay will never have any major leagues sports other than football. They date back to a time when teams leagues were largely based in the east and upper midwest. Like when the Pistons were in Fort Wayne, IN, Sacramento Kings were the Rochester Royals and the Philadelphia 76ers were the Syracuse Nationals. It's not a major league city. If Wisconsin is gonna have an NHL team, it's gonna be in Milwaukee.
