I agree with this but I still think their time in Orange County proper is just about done. It’s just more prosperous further north.

Long Beach or maybe the South Bay would be the furthest north (or west I should say) I could see them going. They've been in Anaheim for over 50 years, they can't go too far out of Orange County and risk alienating their whole fanbase. Long Beach or the South Bay gets them into LA County and opens them up to actually challenging the Dodgers for fans but close enough to still get their OC fans. They definitely should not double down on the OC and move further south (Santa Ana, Irvine, Tustin, etc.).

I think Long Beach is kind of the perfect landing spot for them (If they can find the room), but I still think whoever buys the team may feel that the risk of alienating their OC fanbase may be worth the potential gains. I’m not sure if I agree with that line of reasoning, but I at least understand it. It’s what the Chargers thought, and while I still think it’s really dumb, they don’t seem to be suffering for fans as much as originally thought once they got out of Carson.

The Chargers were never angling to be an Orange County team, though, not even in spirit; they were just marking time until they could move in with the Rams.

I'm not sure I'd call Orange County not prosperous, for whatever it's worth.

No, sorry. What I mean is the Chargers we’re willing to risk losing their San Diego fanbase because (I guess) they thought there would be enough to supplement those losses in the LA area. And yeah OC certainly doesn’t lack prosperity, but a lot of that has to do with their location in proximity to Los Angeles. I used to fight against this, but OC really is just a suburban extension of LA.

Yeah, they really miscalculated on that one. Can't believe this is the sixth year of this. Still bums me out.

Here’s the audio:

Specifically, he thinks the A’s are out of the Coliseum within no later than five years, and while not explicitly predicting they’ll end up in Las Vegas, implied that it may be the most prudent option for them.

If they are on their way out of Oakland, when and how would they do it? Will they do what the Raiders did and play a couple lame duck seasons at the Coliseum while a ballpark in Las Vegas is constructed? Will they try to split games between Oakland and Las Vegas (similar to what Montreal did in Puerto Rico) until a new ballpark is built? Will they abandon the Coliseum and try to rent from the Giants until a ballpark is built in Vegas? Will they rent from the Giants and split games in San Francisco and Las Vegas? Will they move to Las Vegas and play at their minor league park until a new ballpark is built? Several options but what is the best?

Might as well move the A's "temporarily" to Mullett Arena.  It was built on the site of ASUs former baseball stadium. After which ASU moved its baseball to Phoenix Municipal Stadium in 2015 after the A's moved their spring training out of that stadium. The circle would be complete.

Just to add, the A’s went from Phoenix Muni to Hohokam, which had just been abandoned by the Cubs for their new Spring Training facility just east of the ASU campus, Sloan Park.

God, I miss all the live baseball that the Phoenix area has to offer.

Los Angeles Angels News: Team Fighting for $5 Million from City of Anaheim - Los Angeles Angels (si.com)

Quote

The Angels are seeking $5 million from the city of Anaheim over two separate issues. One regarding the city council members decision to kill the proposed stadium land sale, and another over a fire station the city wants to build on the Angel Stadium parking lot.

Arte Moreno and SRB Management want the city to pay them a total of $5 million for transaction costs that include consultant, inspection and legal fees with the stadium deal that did not go through.

Council members don't think they should be paying for anything.

As for the fire station, the Angels claim that the city is violating their lease with the team by attempting to build one in their parking lot. They say that according to the lease, the city cannot build or operate "any permanent structure within the parking area other than the 'Sportstown' development."

Moreno said if the city does go on to build the fire station without the consent of the team, they could end up in court, and be forced to start over on all the architecture plans, which would cost them a lot of money.
