Honestly; stick with the horns (but give them a white outline or something). This is like they’re saying “look. We can’t be the Eskimos but we’re the Eskimos”.

The helmet antlers is a 1st time thing in Football. I don't think it's ever been done before. The Eagles have their signature wings, the Bengals have the tiger stripes. This is such a unique take from a Canadian football franchise. Why change that for a roundel that makes us think too much of the name they got rid of?

If it's accepted to keep the EE logo around, it should be relegated to alternate status. It shouldn't be a focal point, moving foward with the new brand.

New Elks CEO and Team President, Victor Cui, uploaded this video to his instagram with this new looking Elks helmet. What could it be?

He's saying it's nothing for now. When he was hired last month, I read on another board that he is in favour of putting the EE logo back on the helmets, though.

They didn’t need to touch the numbers, the all white numbers just look off, sure they pop but not in a good way.

Yellow isn't used as an outline color anywhere. Plain white numbers are consistent with that.

They still look off, they could have gone with all yellow numbers and it would be more at home on the jersey,

mat least more consistent with branding.

Weird to (maybe) have a uniform change after only one season following a rebrand, unless last year's jerseys were just a rush job to have "new" jerseys for the season (which they did kind of seem that way a bit).

There was a rumour before Covid hit that New Era was supposed to do a league-wide redesign, and it was pushed back to this upcoming season.

Even without the name controversy, the green EE inside a circle on a yellow helmet is directly associated with the Green Bay Packers. I think Green Bay had it first. They finally correct that in a big way, only for them to go back to their old ways a year later, despite the positive fan feedback.

The Double E is no longer the primary logo. Keeping it around as an alternate makes sense, due to it's history.

This is how not to rebrand a sports franchise.

Are you sure they're putting the EE back inside the helmets? It's certainly easy to draw that conclusion based on the stripes on the helmet, but they could also be putting the elk logo itself on the side.

And not that it's gospel, but a few posts up we have the CEO of Elks suggesting the image he posted of an EE helmet wasn't a new helmet leak.

And wasn't there something earlier in this thread where the owner debunked the question of using the EE logo on the helmet?

It sure seems like it. But then again, I found another post with what seems to be another helmet design, based on the placement of the green part.

Except they decided to change the numbers to single-layer white, which made them look more like the Packers than the EE logo ever did. Hopefully they go back to yellow numbers with this update.

I grabbed this from a reaction video the Elks tweeted out yesterday. Looks like a big #2 on the (back of the?) helmet. One of the alumnis in the video also comments that "it takes us back to the beginning."

The helmet stripe is now White/Green/White in the tweet monkeypower posted above. It was G/W/G/W/G from 1996-2019, and G/W/G from 1967-95.

The Elks didn't have one last year except for a single green stripe on the alternate helmets.

Yep. They've always had yellow numbers, for the most part.

The uniforms need a nice consistent update that goes with their brand new logo. We'll see if they can pull it off.
