So?  They are still the brand name of the sweater.  That’s not the same as a hospital or bank logo being slapped randomly onto a jersey.

private label is a thing across most industries.  Those private labels don’t then throw on a highest bid ad from a random industry onto their product.

Nike pays MLB, NBA and the NFL to have their logo feature prominently on the jerseys and (collective) we threw a fit when Nike had their logo on the front of MLB and NBA uniforms. You would be doing the same had Adidas put their logo at that front as well.

Basically, if you pay anyone to get your logo on anywhere, it is advertising no matter how much you spin it.

if you don’t see the difference between a sports company who has their single color logo on a  jersey they “manufacture” and a random bank who has a three color logo on a jersey and league they have nothing to do with….

Having a sports company on a sports uniform makes sense and doesn't look out of place.  Having a bank/medical center/insurance company/gambling site on an NHL uniform makes it look extremely cheap and tarnishes the brand of both the NHL and the team.

Good find. Teal gear looks pretty good there.

I got a head start making these for NHL04 rebuilt and overall not bad. Just did a color and striping layout test. Starting my acceptance journey early

Great job, San Jose.

Take notes, Jacksonville Jaguars....THIS is how you OWN teal.

I'm seeing more and more ads superimposed on the glass and boards. We're all in favor of leaving the uniforms as clean as can be. I'm also here to defend the ice surface. I'd rather see a small jersey patch, and ads covering every single inch of plexiglass, than see a giant bank logo covering half of the neutral zone.

No one here is nostalgic for the half- drunk fan in the first row, wearing the jersey of a retired player, beer in one hand, and slapping the glass with the other hand, right?

All ads are bad. I don't care if they're on the glass, the boards, the ice, the jerseys, the helmets, the three stars, the arena walls, the insides of the penalty boxes, or anywhere else. The increasing omnipresence of advertising has created a constant barrage of visual noise at the expense of aesthetic beauty. Jersey ads are just the latest and most egregious example yet.

No, I see no difference. Those sports companies paid money to the leagues and teams. It's still advertising even if they produce the uniforms and equipment. This is no different in hockey than it is in golf, or tennis or heck just about every sport.

Except that manufacturers want to design products that are aesthetically pleasing. They use minimal, simplistic emblems (swoosh, 3 stripes, etc.), and they customize them to the teams' colour schemes.

Banks/insurance companies/sportsbooks don't care about the aesthetics of uniforms/equipment. They just want to attract as many eyes to their logo as possible. That's why the Habs now have a bright blue & yellow patch on their jerseys.

So the new TaylorMade driver just came out!  It has the TaylorMade logo on the bottom and a giant RBC ad on the crown.  That is the same to you?

Who cares!  it's just ads any way.  RBC totally makes sense to be on this new driver.

I imagine some will follow the Rangers and throw the SCF patch on the shoulder. I wonder about the teams who already have shoulder patches though. Some players will have this awkward look.

NHL-STANLEY-CUP-FINAL.jpg

and that is without the :censored:ing ad!

maybe wings and hawks will go without ads.
