2022-2023 NHL Jersey Changes

Not as good as the Caps' RR 1.0 (the red jersey with the blue eagle had great contrast). I kind of wonder what the logo would look like with blue wings on this black jersey with the blue sash....at any rate, this black jersey just reiterates what a great jersey the original blue jersey was.   May have been better with a bronze and blue collar.  The ad is obnoxious.

Are you familiar with the infamous Mooterus ?

More than familiar--at the time it was actually one of my favorite jerseys, specifically because of that logo. I don't know that I'd say that if it came out today, but from a technical and execution standpoint, the Mooterus logo itself is far better crafted than that...whatever that's supposed to be on Nashville's RR above.

(I know it's supposed to be a saber-toothed tiger or something to that effect, but...still.)

I'm not feeling the new gloves, at all. They look especially bad with the third jersey

And while we're discussing hockey aesthetics, not that I've ever really paid it close mind before, but the more I look at this set, the more I'm inclined to declare this among--maybe even arguably as--the very best uniforms in the league. I know the sleeve number treatment may not be everyone's cup of tea but it's their thing, it works--but that orange and white just pop off that black so vividly, so simply. Just great to look at.

Anaheim looks to be a 90s look, with black/white/gold stripes and orange cuffs/lower torso.

I have mixed thoughts about this!

A white orange and gold Mighty Ducks jersey is a concept that's been done a hundred times and now seeing this exact idea brought to life feels predictable - which I guess is inevitable when it's a simple colour swap of the two eras. The one part I kind of hate is the gold stripe touching the orange - and I get why they did it that way (silver/gold, jade/orange swap) but those two colours should never touch. Looks like it might be metallic gold instead of beige, so hopefully they won't clash too much.

Nitpicking aside I'm obviously happy to see a version of the classic look return, even though I would have preferred the rumoured third recolour. But mostly happy that they'll have at least one white jersey that isn't an ugly mess.

Completely disagree. The orange sticks out like a sore thumb. The black and silver are neutral and work very well.

I totally understand that. Neutral is good, and silver to match the Stanley Cup, the enduring symbol of the NHL, is also good. Then again, no league logo can be truly neutral -- the NHL shield didn't feel that way when the Kings won two in three. I like that the orange sticks out, whether on its own or compared with other league logos. The charm of the NHL has always been that it's different.

Hard disagree here. Some teams get it right the first time, others like the Flyers improve upon their original jerseys after a few years (the 80s, 90s, pre-Edge set)

The contrasting nameplate will never not suck

The hollow numbers on the alt and hollow captain letter on the away are just as dumb as gimmicky as the nameplate

And lastly, that shade of orange is brutal

So close yet so far, for me. They should just go back stitch for stitch to the Lindros era set. With or without the black alternate

Avalanche sleeves are hinting at a '96 vertical-sleeve style (not an original Rockies striped look). Teaser shows current number font too.

Wow very intriguing and unexpected!

Y'know, I was skeptical of the program at first, but I'm actually going to miss this Reverse Retro stuff when it's done (assuming this is the last round of it).

It's been fun to see the fan designs and guess how teams would look back on the history with a twist, and since all the clubs take part, fans everywhere - no matter your team - can get excited. Sure, it's a money grab, but unlike the ads on the boards and jerseys, this one is actually, legitimately, just fun.

Not to pick on you directly here, but it always makes me chuckle when people accuse businesses of a cash grab. It’s a business, the whole point is to make money

I have no idea why the NHL shield was orange and black. But dang it, that's what it was! The silver is nice too, but I miss the old orange shield.

Trash music in those teaser videos. Sometimes the NHL's marketing is just odd to me and seems like such a stretch.

Completely off topic but agreed lol. Rap/hip hop should NEVER be paired with hockey. It just doesn't work. It's a fast, hard hitting sport, you need hard rock, metal or hell, even EDM or techno, but something fast and energetic
