2023 NFL Regular Season Through Super Bowl LVIII

I highly doubt that anyone actually was expecting them to lose that 98 NFC-CG

That's why I said "since the late '90s".  I was pulling hard for Cunningham and that '98 team, and they were the last legitimately excellent Vikings team with a chance.

Do 11-win seasons grow on trees?  Of course not.... but they're also not unicorns.  You have to be really poorly-managed to not back into one every few years.

For the Vikings, I can't speak for how well they're run (though giving Kirk Cousins a fully-guaranteed contract might be a good indication), but the best thing they have going for them is having him leave after this season.  They're a perfect example of why you either have a true franchise QB, or you don't.  Their chances of winning the Super Bowl don't change much if you swap Cousins for any other non-elite QB in the league - or any poster on this forum.

Is everyone in Philly just completely tone deaf or is that “Fly Eagles Fly” song always that dreadfully awful?

Tone deaf, hammered, and a myriad of other issues that the character limit here will stop me from listing.

I know it's shocking that people like this can't carry a tune:

To be completely fair I went to YouTube after to listen to an official version of the song and… Oof. That’s a rough one. Sounds very much like a product of the 1950s, and honestly would be rough for anyone to keep that tune. Then combine it with, as you said, Philly people being their ultimate Philly selves, and, yikes.

At least HTTR had a nice little beat to it. You can almost bounce along with it at every word. Very easy fight song to follow along with. In contrast, FEF is a nightmare to sing along to.

It is a product of the 1950s.  I don't know when the words got added, but they definitely changed some over the years.  It was phased out for a while but came back when Jeff Lurie bought the team.  This one is pretty cool:

It's definitely fun to sing at games, but objectively, it's not very good.  This might be the worst version ever of it, but I'll give it a pass because of the setting (what you can't see, is that people... including me, were literally lining all the streets for 4 miles between there and the stadiums).  Why does the "pep band" even have instruments?  Even when they used to play at the stadium, they'd still pipe in the song over them so nothing they did really mattered.

The problem that has to be solved with natural grass in domes is how it'll be stored/maintained when non-football events are taking place.  It's great in theory to have natural grass at SoFi but what do you do when the building is taken over by Swifties and the Bey Hive for weeks on end?

Yeah, it's a real head-scratcher. Maybe the Rams should have built a stadium that accommodated natural grass in one of the most pleasant climates in North America, knowing that everyone hates plastic grass and gets hurt on it.

The Bears are just astoundingly bad right now. Add another quarterback to the reject pile.

So two OT games so far this week—and lookie who came out on top in the other one...all hail the Snatit! Of course it's too early to tell whether they played up or down...or more accurately, whether LAC would be considered "up" or "down competition, need a few more games to determine that...but Tennessee managed to pull that off, so there you go.

Meanwhile, in Duval, the Chefs still have the Jags' number, in a game where rushing was optional. Eh well, so much for locking down the Bank. On to the next game...

Maybe. But they needed two scores. That was one of them.

With time expiring in the 4th? That was the one the needed.  Unless I'm misunderstanding?

I think it's more a matter of convenience (hey, you're already here, just go ahead and kick the FG *wink wink*) than a bigger master plan that's put into place when down multiple scores.
