One of the few interesting anecdotes from Prime Time to Hang Time (or whatever it was called) was that Jerry Buss was supposedly pissed at Pat Riley one year for winning the Finals too quickly instead of bringing the series back to the Forum, costing him money. Digby
As much as these Celtics have repaired a lot of bad habits, they're still prone to laying an egg, though that was a larger egg than I'd like. Hard to see that happening again at home.
TrueYankee26
Last time both Stanley Cup and NBA Finals were 3-0 before this year: 1996 Last time both ended in a sweep: still 1995 Quote trueyankee26.wordpress.com

dont care
I think we can easily say they might not have been trying to lose but they certainly were not trying to win Friday night, so they could win the championship at home. It’s like 2 completely different teams
DG_YouKnowWhatThatMeans
It was a pretty good playoffs in the west, up until the Finals. At least we can hurry up and get to the draft and free agency so basketball can be fun again. 2 2 1 Quote 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags
SFGiants58
If it wasn’t going to be this year, it wasn’t gonna happen with this Boston core. Congrats are due and now I have to worry about my team keeping a massive liability in the organization. 1 Quote MLB: Project 32 (Complete), MLB: The Defunct Saga (Complete)

Dynasty
I know it's Boston, but I'm glad Tatum and Brown finally got it done together. I can't believe there was actual talk about breaking them up. Also didn't take too long for the Celtics to knock the Lakers back to #2 in title counts. I thought the tie would last longer.
Pharos04
The difference in energy and effort between Friday and tonight were night and day. They looked focused and ready to play tonight. Glad they finally got over the hump after the mental breakdown in 2022. Yay Celtics!
FiddySicks
Pretty meh finals, and a rather easy run for the Celtics all things considered (not their fault they got fortunate matchups), but any Celtics title that puts them ahead of the Lakers all time, I’ll take. I definitely won’t remember this one like their last title, but I’m sure no Celtics fan cares about any of that Quote On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Digby
It's been a pleasure to watch this era of Celtics, now that we've had the payoff. No shortage of doubters, myself included at times, but the players continued to work at it, the coach figured out how to do it, the FO getting every call perfect. In the end it was a bunch of consummate pros who say the right things and go about their business. Nothing really flashy about it but it was the right moves all the way down and now we've got an 18th banner.
who do you think
Retire Danny Ainge's number. Nobody remembers what a directionless toilet this franchise was when he took over in 2003. 1

Sixers spent all that time getting cute only to watch the Celtics mostly sit where they were and it lead to a core that won another title. 1 Quote On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.)
