who do you think
Unevenly microwaved take: Hayward's injury spared him some major heat in Boston, because that last year in Utah (his only year in Utah that anyone remembers or cites) was a classic contract run. Maybe he's not a Wiggins or Larry Hughes level thief in terms of contract year performance vs. baseline, but the Celtics were never getting that guy.

In other news, the Lakers got Ty Lue paid! Good for him. The Clippers running it back with PG is going to be super fun one more time. 1 Quote 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags

Honestly, he still took some pretty major heat from Boston fans. We cut him slack on the first injury, but the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, etc. injuries (He missed time due to something like 16 injuries in 3 seasons and only played 18 games in his first two years) he stopped getting slack. For better or worse, Boston fans have no problem treating a player who never plays due to injury about the same as a they do a complete bum. In either case the team's wasting millions on someone giving the team no production. Chris Sale at least won a title with the Red Sox, but man, the standard reaction for him by the end was pure bitterness that they traded Mookie in favor of a guy who pitched 5 innings per season. Dwight Howard’s Magic era is probably what reignited my (pre Warriors death machine) interest in basketball. They were just so much fun to watch. Add to that them being coached by Stan Van Gundy and the battle with Lebron’s Cavs teams and that was a pretty good time (Lakers redundancy notwithstanding). Digby
So Langdon's first move is to dick around for a month while all the other coaching hire possibilities come off the board, then decide to fire your guy and burn $65 million to not solve any of your team's systemic issues, then? Off to a perfectly Pistons start. A historic franchise like that one doesn't deserve this ongoing mismanagement, and practically speaking probably can't afford it if they'd like to stay in business. Dynasty
The Pistons are so doomed for the next decade. I don't think I would have a problem with the NBA rigging the next couple of drafts to keep Detroit from wasting getting some anticipated generational talent. That organization is toxic; they need to be cleaned out completely.
Digby
Just very funny to me that "Oh, such-and-such owners won't keep this contending team together for long, the luxury tax will be too much" can coexist with "owner of a low-revenue team can tie up $65 million in dead money just like that".

Seems to be a trend with these hedge fund guys pushing out old Stern guys (Bucks, Pistons, Jazz, Rockets?). I can't think of many organizations that have fallen more in recent memory than Detroit has. Being over the luxury tax now comes with strict penalties beyond just having to spend more money. It greatly restricts the front office's ability to make moves. Eating a coach's contract does not. The_Admiral
Lakers hired J.J. Redick, as expected, and apparently Mark Cuban is out as any sort of decision-maker within the Mavericks. SFGiants58
Klay on the Magic might be the most hilarious proposed move. He’s utterly washed and will probably derail the good thing they have going. It’s the way of teams who want to rush into the upper tier of playoff participants. who do you think
OKC has a such a huge stash of future first rounders that they almost can't actually keep and use them all. How do you not get one for Caruso? Giddey's a mid stat stuffer and that's about it; bad defender, mediocre shooter.
