Korkie
Dave Roberts to San Diego for Jay Payton, Ramon Vazquez, David Pauley, and cash. i know none of those players are exactly studs, but I still don't see how Roberts is worth 3 players and cash. He is a 32 year old journeyman centerfielder only famous for one stolen base, granted it was a BIG stolen base, but still only one stolen base. Just not sure the value is there. He reminds me of doug glanville with a tad more speed. I don't see the Phils getting Payton for Glanville, forget the rest of the deal. I just think his value is too high at this point all because of one play. Besides isn't Mark Kotsay the Padres CF? marlinfan
A source in the Marlins FO and a member on marlinsbaseball.com says the Marlins are working on a deal to bring Cliff Floyd back to the Marlins.Another reliable source said last week the Marlins were soooooooooooo close to acquiring Mark Mulder. He gave us hints a deal was being worked out on Friday but couldn't name names then STL snuck past them. 1997 | 2003

pcgd
Eckstein to St. Louis NICE! Slight upgrade on Defense. Eckstein averages about 5 less errors a year. Slight downgrade on hitting. Renteria averages about 8 home runs more a year and has about 5 percentage points more on career average. Statistically they are pretty similar. Plus, cheaper than the other options. Now lets see if we can get Alex Cora and upgrade our middle infield defensively from Womack. I'm feeling much better about the 2005 season lately. fiasco!
Now lets see if we can get Alex Cora... i think that's the only time we'll ever see those words together in that sequence. LinkedIn
pcgd
Now lets see if we can get Alex Cora... i think that's the only time we'll ever see those words together in that sequence. haha...I know...but who else is out there? There are NO decent second basemen in the majors period. Jeff Kent is old and doesn't hit or field all that well anymore, Alfonso can hit, but he can't field, womack is old. There just aren't too many out there. Options are slim. This is why you hide your worst all around fielder at second base, and typically they are one of the weakest bats in the lineup. Alex Cora would be a solid second baseman for St. Louis if they can't get Polonco. I forgot about him earlier. I'm an idiot. Plus we've got Luna and Bo Hart if we really need them. That's not trueThere is a 2B for a Florida team that hits around 300 anually. He is the back to back GG winner at his position, routinely can steal 30-40 bases, one of the best leadoff hitters in the game and makes pitchers work like hell. pcgd
2 out of 30...No your right, and I was blowing that out of proportion. But I stand by my statement that there are few all around good second basemen, and that they are typically one of your weakest players. Now all the High School Second Basemen will come out...
