DEAD!
I believe that the Angels should stick with the Anaheim Angels moniker. They have won a World Series and a division championship under than name. They have more success under "Anaheim" than "LA" or "California" combinedI am not sure why they went to "California" Perhaps is was because when they moved to Anaheim, the city was too small to have any significant recognition. I saw, I came, I left.
Diablo de Tejas
As far as the Rangers go, when the Senators moved to Arlington, the management did not want to alienate people from both Dallas and Ft. Worth. They chose to use the Texas moniker as way to allow everyone from the metroplex to claim the Rangers as their own. The team name "Rangers" was an obvious choice, as it pays tribute to our stae law enforcers.

marlinfan
The unis the Angels had in the early to mid nineties IMO are one best uniforms I have ever seen. Very classic looking unis for an expansion team. They should have kept them period. Expansion team? The Angels began play in the early 60's when MLB expanded. So by that logic we should also have the...Miami MarlinsWrong.....Carol City Marlins the Marlins don't even play close to Miami's city limits. That's a 45 minute drive SE.Also the Sunrise Panthers..... 1997 | 2003
FiddySicks
yeah i liked the "California" Angels better myself. im from the bay area and there is sort of a rivaly between the two sides of the state, north, giants A's, vs south, padres and dodgers."Anaheim" Angels more represents a southern cal team where "California" didnt, because it represented the whole state. its sort of strange but Ironchefshark knows what im talking about. ask him. dammit, I hate when n00bs attempt to put words in my mouth.....i know what youre talking about and I COMPLETELY disagree with youthe angels should have NEVER called themselves "California" to begin with. When they changed thier name to "Anaheim" it was a well justified asthetic correction. Its stupid to name yourself after the state when there are FOUR OTHER TEAMS in the state. This has nothing to do with tradition, nothing to do with "what sounds better", this is about what is right."California Angels" is wrong. "Anaheim Angels" is rightand thats all Im saying on this matter. How anyone can prefer the "California Angels" moniker is just....... hey all i was saying was that many bay area fans feel that way and you understood that, not that you agreed with it. SRY. it hurts that yopu would call me a newbie . I dont think ill look at the Reno Cardsharks the same again. AND DONT F@#$%$G CALL ME A NEWBIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ummm - Green Bay IS the large city, compared to Allouez, Ashwaubenon, DePere, and Howard. It's where I sit.
CC97
I think California Angels was alright when they renamed themselves that. They were the first and only American League team in the state at the time. Remember that back then the leagues were seperated much more than they are now.Same goes for the Marlins, there was no Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 1993. --- Chris Creamer Founder/Editor, SportsLogos.Net "The Mothership" • News • Facebook • X/Twitter • Instagram
JetsLuvver
That periwinkle Angels logo is still on display inside Tropicana Field, along with the Clemens-era Blue Jays, and probably a couple other outdated ones.I wonder if they'll ever change them.
