DGivens87
so does this mean no more Lions throwbacks on Thanksgiving? I mean, you're only allowed to wear 3 different jerseys throughout the course of the season, right? A large cheese pizza, just for me.New England's source for soccer newsAnd hey, I made it to ESPN! JamesCraven
No, they will still wear the throwbacks on Thanksgiving. STL FANATIC
JC is more than likely right. The NFL made that rule when alts first started, but they've been very flexible with it.I would think they'd deny the black jerseys before eliminating the throwbacks. Expect 'em to use both. Proc
As a lifelong Lions fan (I know have pitty on me, but am born and raised in Motown) and nearing my 40th birthday without seeing a winner, I wish they would go back to simple, Honolulu Blue and Silver. The black trim looks good on the white/away jersey, but not on the home. I liked the old school Barry Sims era with the blue jersey and silver (not white) numbers. Black alternate? I don't know about this...I'd be happy if they adopted the throwback uniform fulltime but add the "Leaping Lion" to the helmet.
Gothamite
I'd be happy if they adopted the throwback uniform fulltime but add the "Leaping Lion" to the helmet. That sounds perfect to me.As a Packer fan, I'm really ticked off at the Lions. Leave the alternate black uniform nonsense for the divisions without a proud history. Blue Falcon
Why doesn't the NFL just go ahead and make it a rule that EVERY team MUST have a black alternate jersey? The Panthers added a 3rd jersey and look like the Lions, now the Lions are adding a 3rd that makes them look like the Panthers! How much sense does this make, since I though teams wanted an IDENTITY?Here's all the teams that have added black in some form over the last few years, either as 3rd jersey or alterna-pants: Ravens (both jersey & pants), Jaguars (J&P), Eagles (jersey), Falcons (J&P), and now the Lions (jersey). In the Falcons defense, the black was their "main color" originally. The red was the third, so they switched from black to red, not the other way around...(And the red looks better.)
