bosox
http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news?slug=ap-c...ov=ap&type=lgns Brett Hull, the third-leading scorer in NHL history, is retiring from the game, effective immediately, a source close to the Phoenix Coyotes said Saturday. The team scheduled an 8 p.m. EDT news conference to make a major announcement. The source, speaking on condition of anonymity because the official announcement had not been made, said Hull had decided to retire five games into his 18th NHL season. The announcement came just hours before the Coyotes faced Hull's former team, the Detroit Red Wings, at Glendale Arena. ...And they just had this ceremony to unretire his father's number. STL FANATIC
I'm so tired of people criticizing when people leave their game. Everyone always wants them to leave at the perfect time with the most amazing ceremonial crap.Let a guy retire when he's ready, PERIOD.Can't wait to see you back in St. Louis for your number retiring Brett. Its not the fact that he left the game, its the fact that he left the game Stan Ross style. It seems like this happens quite a bit in the NHL. Why? NJTank
Well he is 40, and sitting out a year when you are 40 is harder because its not as easy to get in shape, and 2 the Coyotes are a bad team cant be fun to play on them, I think he made the right call. He sigend with Phoenix last year, possiblly planning to retire after last season, and probally only came back out of obliagation or something. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
Jigga
Another all-time great that we were robbed from sending off in style by the damn lockout, IMHO.Can't knock a guy for retiring after 5 games in the season. He gave it a go, but he didn't have what it took anymore. It's not like he got the chance to measure himself against other players last year. It's kind of sad as a sports fan. It was a pleasure to watch Brett Hull play. On January 16, 2013 at 3:49 PM, NJTank said: Btw this is old hat for Notre Dame. Knits Rockne made up George Tip's death bed speech. Shumway
Yeah, I don't blame Hull for leaving when he did. His playing time was diminishing, and this "new NHL" isn't fit for some of the veteran players. I look forward to seeing Hull in the HOF.
CC97
At least he retired... save the Coyotes some money that way.He could've gone the Albert Belle route. --- Chris Creamer Founder/Editor, SportsLogos.Net "The Mothership" • News • Facebook • X/Twitter • Instagram
