MLB 2k6 xbox 360

Picked up MLB 2k6 for the 360 the other day. The stadiums look incredible, obvious they spent a lot of time working on those.

Here's what they didn't spend a lot of time on. Uniforms! Playing as the Cardinals on the road, grey uniform (right). Navy batting helmet (also right). Logo on the helmet is white (wrong) - think the white SD on the navy blue Padres hat from several years ago. Not the end of the world, because you can only see it if you look closely.

So after the top of the first, the Cardinals take the field....wearing red hats....on the road. Um...yeah...they haven't done that since 91, to the best of my recollection.

How on earth do you screw that up? How does that game get issued like that? A total game killer for me, because I'm a uniform stickler. Kind of a big detail to miss. Guess it's good that their slogan isn't "If it's in the game...it's in the game!" I miss EA.

As an aside, why can't game makers give a legitimate alternate set for the Cardinals. Every year, it's the same old red BP-type jerseys, which they NEVER wear in the season. Yet, the Sunday home hats are nowhere to be found. How hard would it be to make the alternate uniforms the white top with the Sunday hats?

Love 2K, ambivalent toward EA. That being said, this seems to be a perpetual issue in every sports video game, no matter the manufacturer. This should be a sign to video game companies that they should have someone with knowledge of these details on staff, to go along with those who are hammering code into a program 16 hours a day. I can't think of a single sports game without a notable uniform omission or error. The last game I purchased was EA Arena Football - and there are so many uni errors in that game which could have been avoided had the staff done about 5 minutes of internet research, or maybe just asked the league.

I'm a huge EA Sports guy, and I'm pissed they aren't making MVP Baseball anymore. Although I don't really mind playing MVP 2005 again. 2K Sports makes decent games, but EA has them beat.

They almost always ignore the Cubs, and give them a basic font instead of the rounded arabic numerals.

Oh suck it up, nothing is perfect. We wouldn't be in this mess if EA hadn't monopolized the NFL license. Just live with it, its not like it messes up the game play or anything, its just something estetic that was over looked in the short time they had to put the game together.

I think what you meant to say was "We wouldn't be in this mess if the NFL hadn't asked for one company to be the official supplier of video games."

It's not EA's fault the NFL preferred having one company make games.

wish i had a 360, everything looks so realistic, and you know the sports games always look good on the new platforms. Nice pickup. But too many errors for the gamemakers

The way I remember it was EA approached the NFL asking for the exclusive licence, not the NFL asking EA to be the exclusive maker. Thats why in turn, 2K Sports went and made it so only they and other third party companies can make MLB licenced games.

Do some research on it - I did just a couple weeks ago. EA was approached by the NFL, not the other way around. The NFL was looking for one company to make an official NFL game. Once NFL approached EA, the EA jumped on the opportunity (as would any good corporation) and bingo, we have the "mess" that we have right now.

"A source close to the negotiations said it was at a spring 2004 off-site meeting attended by top NFL officials that the league determined it would take the league license exclusive. GameSpot was told the league put the license up for bid and that EA was among as many as five software publishers competing for it. An EA spokesperson said today, "Obviously, exclusives are more expensive. We are most certainly paying a premium.""

MVP 06 is surprisingly fun to play. The Load and Fire batting system takes some time to master but when you do it adds years to the life of the game.

and NCAA 06 (the football games) are always amazing.

Because the point of baseball video games is to play the games, not to obsess over the uniforms. Stuff like missing a logo isn't important.

Any throwback jerseys in MVP '05? I'm in 2018 on my MVP 2003 franchise and 13 of my players just retired and the remaining "current" players are scarce, but I try to trade for names I know. Anyway... I wish there was a way to wear alts or throwbacks in MVP '03 franchise mode, but best I can tell, there isn't.

So I guess what I'm asking is MVP '05 worth it from a uniform standpoint?

(And I agree that the Cubs' numbers are disappointing.)

Older Teams(reds, red sox, white sox, etc.) have the jerseys from the 19teens with the collars on them.

And then other teams have the 70s jerseys(reds,astros)

I can't remember what it is but I had a cheat for a Red Sox St. Patty's day jersey too. There are lots of inaccuracies with the minor league uniforms though.
