But, their playing the Raiders of hockey. I wouldn't be surprised if a Shark player gets thrown to the ice, and get banged. That would be the last thing I would want (unless it was Sean Avery.)

*ROTFLMFAO*

Raiders of hockey? San Jose has played a lot cheaper than Edmonton in this series. Let's just replay some tape of Mark Smith in game one, and Kyle McLaren and Jonathon Cheechoo in game four.

Georges Laraque's hit on Cheechoo in game three was a result of him being much smaller and turning himself into partision on the boards, resulting in the cut. Raffi Torres' hit was a shoulder, so don't even bother with that one.

By the way, according to a San Jose columnist, Edmonton is the Green Bay of hockey. But thanks for the cheapshot.

You idiot that was clearly an elbow on Torres and McLaren hit Horcoff in the side not from behind

Too think Miller dropped to 138(5th RND) in the draft. he was definately a steal in that round if not in the draft.

assuming the Canes take care of business against the Devils, the Carolina and Buffalo series is going to be a good one. Ward vs. Miller should be a fun one to watch.

if the Oilers win game 5 it's over

Meh, I disagree. I much as I hate San Jose, I think they are a Stanley Cup contenders. They just need depth to their third and fourth line. Anaheim and San Jose are very similar, and would be fun to watch them battle in the Western Finals.

Should be a good rest of the series! I got edm.png In game 5, sjs.png in game 6, and sjs.png to win the series in Game 7.

Ill tell you this much. If SJ does blow it, EDM is gonna beat ANA just to ruin everything. Then theyll lose quick in the Finals to some East team i could care less about. Maybe thats why i cant stand Canadian NHL teams. <_<

Hey, never said it was, just show respect to those teams and fans who have given so much to the game.

If you don't give respect, then don't expect it in return.

To be honest, I'm rooting for the Ducks and Canes right now to reach the finals, and San Jose to take out Edmonton. I have some emotional ties to the Sharks (They were the team I saw when I went to my first of two NHL games and my friend also brought me back a shirt from San Jose when he went there two years ago as well as I just love California...hence the wanting the Ducks to win it all right now...) I love Edmonton too, and it does suck to see two teams you like duking it out to advance, but I would rather see San Jose and Anaheim reach the finals than Edmonton. Eh, it would be cool to see a Canadian team win the cup again, but I'd rather that be the Leafs than any of the other ones! <_<

Hate to break it to you, but the San Jose Sharks are not on the same level as the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks, and many more teams, including the Edmonton Oilers. What those teams have done, and what they will continue to do, deserves the respect of every hockey fan, whether you hate them or not. The Sharks simply havn't earned that respect...yet. In 10, 15, 25, or 50 years, maybe the Sharks' accomplishments will be mentioned in the same breath as those of the teams I mentioned above.

Eh... the Sharks, along with some other southern American teams who have found ways to find a market do deserve some respect. The LA Kings have been around for 40 years in a market that loves its lack of football teams over its abundance of hockey teams. Sure these teams have not been around that long and have not won any cups, but they have become elite franchises and have created a loyal market around it. The Original 6 are in a league of its own, but that doesn't mean that other teams can't be highly regaurded. The fact that team has such loyal and strong fans on this board shows the reach of the Sharks market and shows that it has thrived. You have to look at those teams which have survived in the non-hockey first markets and the ones who have created a fan base out of nothing and respect it.

You make a good point there. The original six started it out. Without them the Sharks would not be in existance. And to even say that theyre not yet on the level of Edmonton may be right there. Its a stretch, but its probably true. Edmonton did do a lot for hockey, with the Gretz and crew with all the cups. But to say that the San Jose Sharks dont deserve respect is rediculous. Theyre an NHL team, just like every other team. And unlike Boston, Detroit, Montreal, Chicago, New York, and Toronto, Theyre still alive. And ill also say this. You can respect something while still disliking it.

But anyway, the important thing is that the series is tied 2-2 and picks back up tonight in SJ. LEts get ready for some really good hockey.

So you are basing your entire argument on "who has been around longer" ?

Once again you show how shallow you are. I got news for you, there is more to the NHL than the original six plus the four other Canadian teams (one of which is a younger franchise than San Jose by one year to begin with) .

To tell me, as a fan of a newer franchise in a warmer climate location, that I am "obligated" to respect these "older" teams when all I hear from the fans of these teams is how we are not a "cultured" enough fanbase and how we "have no history", is pompous and downright demeaning.

I can't wait for the day the Sharks win the Stanley Cup. It might even happen this year. Hell, the way this team is built, I feel that just one Stanley Cup out of this bunch wouldn't be enough. When it finally happens though, it will be a vindication for our fanbase and our city from all the low-brow taunting from fans of teams with "history".

I believe the first shot came from bucfan, and the second from you.

Well the Sharks dont have the history of the original 6 but nobody else does either, for a team thats been around 15 years the Sharks do alright for themselves and in market the size of the Bay Area they are without a doubt going to be a strong franchise for years to come and only need an appearance in the Cup Finals now to take the next step up.

He didnt take shots at anyone. You know how many people on here say they hate the Sharks and its not considered a "shot", yet the minute BucFan says he hates Canadian teams it is a shot?

Nope, don't agree with that at all.

I honestly didnt really mean that as a shot. I simply stated how I feel. And it was mainly out of frustration anyway. If i had known it was gonna start this, I probably would have kept quiet. And the most important thing of all of this i stated in the last line of my last post.

The important thing is that the series is tied 2-2 and picks back up tonight in SJ. Lets get ready for some really good hockey.

Well, they could win it this year. You never know.

As for this arguement, I am not obilged to give respect to the older teams, or any team for that matter, unless they earn it. Also, those in warmer cilmate cities have just as knowledgable hockey fans as those up north. To say that San Jose doesn't deserve respect is far beyond stupid. It's down right retarded.

If San Jose takes the next two against Edmonton, they'll be playing in the conference finals for the first time in franchise history. I don't care if it's the Sharks or if it's the freaking Blue Jackets, a team who can reach the NHL's Final Four has earned my respect (That, and they use teal. Teal is cool).

I was simply using your own logic against you.

Accually no. They were there in the 04 season vs Calgary. But yeah, it would still be awesome. An all California West woulf for sure take it to the next level.
